**The No Sleep Club**

aw sorry you had a bad night emilia!

eva was hard work last night too! the health visitor said to bath her and put her to bed at the same time each night. i decided 8pm is best so DH can see her after work. it's been going really well so far.

anyways she fell asleep at 7pm last night so i thought - great no bath then. she woke up and i quickly got her ready for bed. then i read to her and she was asleep by 8.30pm.

from 2am onwards she kept waking up ALL THE TIME. i feel exausted today. dont know if it is her cold (which seems to be getting better) or if its cos we didnt go out yesterday at all - first time in ages. maybe she wasnt tired out like normal??

ARGH x

Emilia same here!!

Every 2 hours again, dummy no help at all, each time he had a proper feed aswell, not a 2 min suck then asleep again.

I don't get how he can't be full when he goes to bed, he's had 3 meals, 2 with dessert, then about 3 oz of formula on top of boob all evening.
He went to bed at 8 then woke up for a big feed at 10, 12, 2, 4, 6 and 8!

:wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Charlotte is pretty much the same as Olivia.
She has boobie at about 7-7.30 and falls asleep on it, i then take her to bed and she wakes, so more boobie (mainly for comfort i think) then she'll nod off about 8.30-9. Sometimes she will awake when i go to bed about 11-12 and ill feed her, but i have the same problem as Lucy, if i give her a dream feed she still wakes at 4 for another feed. and she is always really hard to get back off to sleep. If i dont give her a dream feed she still only wakes at 4.
Im just hoping it doesnt all go wrong as she gets older!
I ahve tried a dummy when she really 'needs' one, but she aint keen! Think she has only used one about 5 times. She just spits it out.

Yeah Brody will suck the dummy for a minute or so, but then he realises it's not boobie so no milk so he just moaned more :)

Wish me luck.... it's nearly 8.30pm here and Oscar hasn't even had a bath. He just woke from a very brief snooze.
Planning to keep him up til 9.30..... oh I hope he conks out!!! I'm seeing double...
Emilia xx

Brody is asleep in his bouncer so I'm off for a bath. He should wake up in about 1/2 hour then I'm gonna try and fill him with formula.
:)

LOL Emilia
LOL Emilia

When I'm really tired in the day it feels as if I'm on a child's roundabout and the world is whizzing round me!

Olivia has been really unsettled the past couple of days - Hels I think we spoke about this on MSN. She is really starting to notice a lot more of her surroundings so often comes off the boob for a nosy and a few coos and then gets grumpy and wont feed again!

She went up at 9 tonight so I'm wondering how many times we'll be up during the night.

Hope everyone has a good night's kip tonight!

Nope, nope and more Nope!!!!!!
I am resigning..... my life has been taken over by an "Nocturnal Party Animal"!!!
Oscar was quite upset at his delayed bedtime last night - I paid for it! He went down after 9pm and woke just after 11pm. I was still seeing double, having slept for only an hour. Took him into my bed.... fed all night and even managed to push my well to one side (not just the 2 of us... DH in bed too) Although, DH slept quite well I expect!! :? :D

My mum thinks it must be more teeth troubling. I'm on auto-pilot..... if in Victorian times, I think I might be tempted to call in the "wet nurse"!!! :D

sorry to hear you had another bad night emilia... have you thought about some sort of routine during the day? only asking as ruben used to wake several times a night before i put him on the gina ford routine (not too rigid about it though, just using it as a guide) after 2 days of that he started to wake jjust once in the night for a feed.

if he doesn't get all his naps in the day (45 mins in the morning, 2-2 1/2 hrs at lunchtime and 30 mins in the afternoon) he gets really overtired, and impossible to settle in the evening - followed by loads of wakings in the night...

he decided to wake at 2.30 last night though (normally wakes between 3.30 and 5 sometime) so i thought i might hae another waking, but he just had his feed and then slept till 7.

Oh Petchy... I've got the book. I struggle to stay in a routine as I've got older kids too that I need to taxi around most afternoons. In the mornings I have to use the time to get the shopping, etc and then we have little time before kids come home at 1.30pm.
I also don't have DH living here as he works away in the city (2.5 hrs drive away). So, as you can gather - me time is not mine or Oscars. We have to fit in around housework and older kids.

Oscar doesn't sleep that great during the day either. My mum recons he's busy getting his top teeth.... sounds rediculous, but they're bulging and red.
I might have to take Oscar to Boot Camp soon...... :D :D

I wonder if there is a pattern with daytime naps and night sleeping with all of us.

Brody only ever naps for 1/2 hour max, about 3 times a day.
I really wish he'd have more, I need to get stuff done!

Last night he slept from 9ish, I gave him a dreamfeed at 11, then he woke at 3, so not bad going at all.
Still woke up at 5.30 then 8 though

I know part of my issue is Brody isn't really interested in feeding during the day. He'll have a couple of minutes on the breast then push it away and moan for solids. Obviously he's making up for this at night!

Emilia have you ever tried a dummy? I was really not wanting to give Brody one, he's had it twice so far, once it made a difference and once it didn't.

My philosophy has always been that the better a baby sleeps during the day, the better it sleeps during the night. That's been my experience with previous kids anyway.
I'm sure that's our prob, Urchin.

Tried dummies, but might go out and get a different type today. Will let you know how I get on.

I agree with the above, Rubie has always slept well in the day and at night too. If she doesn't sleep well in the day she won't settle as well on a night. My HV also said that it's true.

yh i agree, when dior goes to her nans she says to me oh i woke her after a hr so she would sleep ok tonight, Dior sleeps better if she has a good nap in the day, she goes to bed at 8pm wakes at 8am then goes for a nap about11am then sometimes naps any thing up to 3hrs then she sleeps great at night..

well at the mo im chuft to say im not in the "no sleep club"
Harley is an angel at the mo, he has last feed at 12 then 5am then 9am i usualy go to bed at 12 and up at 8am so to me it feels like im just doing one feed and he only takes 45mins to feed wind change bum...

hope it lasts

its a shock compaired to when Dior was a baby i used to have to set my alarm and feed every2hrs all through the night, and she would take 1hr and half to feed!!!! :wall:

why did you have to set your alarm dionne?

I think i might need to join this thread, i havent read through it all so sorry if i dont make sense lol

Coby has started to wake up in teh nights again, for teh past 2 nights he woke up at 4, and last night we woke at 2, hes waking up hungry, he already has a rusk in the evening so i dont really want to give him anymore soilds at teh mo, going to ask my VH about it, so untill then, i am not getting a full nights sleep anymore :(

xx

Right... went out and bought NUK dummy... only one I could find!! Wish me luck tonight!!!

Good luck emilia!

We went out for dinner this evening with the In-laws who have flown in from SA for a week.
Brody was awake for ages, had 1 oz of formula in the restaurant then another 4 at home. I think he's KNACKERED so fingers crossed we're both in for a good night!

Oh yeah, and he slept for an HOUR this afternoon which he's never done before :)

I'm really starting to sound like a broken record now! Nonetheless, I feel obliged to tell you once again...... Rotten Night!!!! :wall:

The dummy proved useless - Oscar was disgusted at the idea and after gagging and being a bit of a drama queen, spat it out at the speed of light!!!!!

Urchin, Oscar also slept brilliant during the day yesterday - I really had my hopes up. He even snoozed for an hour between 5-6..... bath and 7.30 and bed at 9. He woke up at 10.45pm.... 11.50..... the rest is a mystery.
My back is killing me this morning - I feel really POO!!!!!
:( :( :(

Hope you had a nice time Urchin. I hope Brody behaved himself during the night!!! I made the mistake last night to have a teeny weeny glass of wine... Never Again!!!
Y-A-W-N...
Emilia xx
