The Gestational Diabetes support thread

Ok today went way down hill and kept getting worse. I got a 12.9 at lunch and now for tea it's been 14.7 and might I add that's because al bought me home a diet coke from the drive through as I'm sweating my ass off it had to have been normal and not diet to get that reading I'm fuming

Oh my, what else did you eat?
Amy can you try to get a reading at 2 h after meal too?

Those stupid people messed and put you normal pop :( you can always have a little more insulin to bring that down, or at least I could do it maybe you do t mess with your doses.

I had tuna salad for lunch and chicken wrapped in bacon baby sprouts and cauliflower mash for tea. I will start taking a 2 hour reading tomorrow. Never mind tomorrow is another day x

Hey you lovely girl, how are your readings today?
I had the last shopping sprint today ( with much pain :() now I only need pads for me and a bf pillow and ofc to wash everything and make order...

Food wise, I had an atkins bar for snack while out and about and God was yummy!!!!
Had a stew for lunch and dinner will be meatballs, green beans and a Greek salad.
I can barely move after the shopping so sofa weekend for me...
How did you get on today?

Hi hun sorry I have been a busy bee today and I'm pooped. I have only had egg for breakfast tomato and pepper soup for lunch and mince and quinoa for dinner my readings were 10.1, 9.8 and 11.2
Still poo but I get to up my dose tomorrow
I painted the kids room today and did a little shopping so I am just ready for bed. How you feeling now I hope your resting xxx

I amazed that you still have stamina to even paint a room
I couldn't do that even before lol...

Still pretty tired, I progressed with the washing though, now only the car seat covers left to be washed and then to put everything in order, sheets in the cot, crib, Moses basket and pram things like that...
We spent half of the day trying to figure out the baby monitor and the sensory pad and I still don't know how to use it...

Food wise just got around to make lunch/dinner as we got up quite late we completely skip lunch...
So cauliflower with cream cheese, bacon and cheddar in the oven as a side dish to yesterday leftover meatballs...

How are you getting on today?

I'm aching all over today I didnt realise how much I had done yesterday and am paying for it big time.
Readings are still high and I have eaten Carb free so far. I check in with the hospital tomorrow but I'm starting to feel at a loss with it tbh x

Amy did they say anything about slow releasing insulin too? That may help you to have more constant values I am thinking...
I am sorry that you don't feel so good today  let them spoil you Amy

Slow release was only mentioned for if my morning readings were high which for now seem to be ok
I just don't get how I can be having high readings after meals when i have small portions and am so careful especially with injecting high doses of insulin. I kind of feel like they think I'm stuffing my face with cake ect.
Rose has just fallen asleep cuddled up to me watching the cube so I have a nice quite evening ahead x

 nobody will think that  I suppose some times it's just not possible to control it :(
Fx it will get more manageable. Your diet already helps as your little princess growth slowed down so that's a big thing already.
After all you do everything that you can already :(
8 or less weeks to go Amy, hold on there :( easier to say I know...
I feel like 6 or less for me are an eternity really...

The last few weeks are so hard aren't they? Especially when you don't feel 100% it's only a matter of days now hun eeek! X

Good morning Amy

How are you doing today?

I had a bad night, I woke up at 3.30 for a pee and that was it... It was impossible to find a nice position to sleep after that :(

How are your readings today? Just had leftovers for lunch.
No idea what we will eat for dinner :( I hope to get inspired by you!!!!

A question btw. How long do you leave between meals? And how do you fit snacks in?
Yesterday we woke late, had breakfast at 11 then a snack later and then dinner. Dinner had hardly any carbs other than the cauliflower ones so I was expecting a super around 5.8 reading.
Instead I got a 7 and no idea why?

I was wondering if the snack was too close to the dinner so I started the 2 h with a higher blood sugar already ifykwim?

Have you been told anything about how long between meals?

I know that my patients are told 3 h between meals but how that works with the 2 snacks I suppose to have?

Also sometimes I seem to starve even before those 3 h meaning that I barely probably meet my calories need at every meal, let alone the extra ones that the baby needs...

I hope you have a good day today

Hey girls!!!

Just catching up as I've been on a little holiday with my babies :)

Hope you're both ok today! AR good luck at the hospital hope they can get something sorted for you :( xx

How was the holiday hun?
I'm ok just had to ring the hospital not actually go in so I have increased my insulin again. My morning reading was 5.9 and have only had breakfast now I wasn't feeling up to it earlier. I haven't been having snacks hope just my main meals unless like today I have had a late breakfast I will have a snack around 3 and then have dinner. I'm sick of food lol x

It was lovely! We went to Camber Sands :)

Aww sorry to hear youve had to increase your insulin again!!!! :( that sucks :( xx

Lucky you Amy lol!!! I am constantly starving :( like 1 trimester all over again :(
I have been told that I need 3 main meals and 2 snacks to help the blood sugars constant rather than a big spike??

Maybe you try that too now that poor you tried everything already :(
I hope it gets better with the new scheme.

Jaxx welcome back! I hope you had a great time

Thanks Hope yes it was lovely :) Showed Stanley the sea for the very first time and had a little paddle with his feet..every tiny wave took his breath away!! Alfie loved it too ... love seeing his excited face!!

So glad you girls only have a few more weeks left...cant wait to see your bubbas :)

Are you both being induced?? im sure youve probably said already, theres like 19 pages to trawl through lol xx

No idea :( it all depends of how much the little chunk will weight...

Judging by the 32 scan me thinks they will not let me go overdue...
If its already at around 4 kg at 38 weeks I will probably be induced if it's more it will be a c section?
Also it's doing my head in that every time I have an appointment it's a different consultant there :wall:
Scan tomorrow again so we will see how much the little chunk grew :(

It seems that you had a wonderful time, I bet priceless moments with the kids seeing the sea for the first time :) I hope you got sown good pictures !!!
