The Clomid Thread - 6 BFP's!

That's great the clomid has had such a good effect already, good luck for your test xx

Hi everyone.
I've have PCOS and last Tuesday had a laparoscopy and dye test. During the lap they found (as suspected) that I had some endometriosis which was cleared up during the op. I was told by the consultant (briefly, just as I'd come round from the anesthetic - so still very woozy, that I am ovulating which is a good thing.
Before my op, my consultant mentioned clomid as a possible next step, but said to be able to go on any medication from the NHS I would need to lose more weight and get my bmi down.
I am aware that I am about 4 stone over weight, and about 2 stone off the high end of a safe bmi level. Has anyone else been told this?
I'm waiting to go back and see the consultant to find out what the next steps are, and if it is that I literally have to go away and lose weight then I will - infact I've already lost over a stone and have taken up regular running so I have no problems with it - just wanted to know if anyone else had been told this?

Sam:)

could anyone tell me if its hard to get prescribed clomid are they quite reluctant to put you on it? i am desperate for this just waiting for my referall to get sorted out. also i am slightly underweight do i need to make sure im at the right weight for them to help me? would really appreciate any advice thanks xxx :)

Her13 you usually need to have been trying for a year and not have regular periods or be diagnosed with PCOS to get prescribed Clomid. Your weight may affect their decision as being underweight can cause ovulation to stop. Sorry I can't give a definitive answer but all consultants are different so you will have to see which side of the fence yours sits.

Good luck and keep us posted x

Morning ladies, I'm just curious as I'm on the second round of clomid on cycle day 14 and not feeling like I'm gearing up to ovulate yet.

What cycle day did you tend to ovulate on or round about with clomid? Thanks xx

Mine was 14 when its usually 12 or 13. If you usually have long cycles anyway, maybe that's why?

Could anyone who’s been on clomid tell me if it makes your AF heavier please? I had really light AF after coming off the pill and my lining was always very thin, but when I had the follicle scans it was showing as much thicker and now on day 27 I have bit of a tummy ache. (But funnily enough I haven’t had any cramping, when I stopped taking the pill I had cramping/contracting from about day 14.)
I want to be prepared if AF comes if it’s going to be heavy!

Blue flower I think my first was light and the cycles following heavy, since stopping clomid it's actually been the heaviest ever (I'm talking going through 3-4 pairs of jeans in a day) but everyone is different. I used to have mega cramps but not a very heavy af.. It was never consistent really!

Thanks blueflower, I didn't ovulate last cycle of 50mg clomid so I just wondered if I would start feeling my body starting to ovulate on this round. My AF was really heavy last cycle, not sure if that's to do with the clomid or the injection to get AF started xx

3-4 pairs of jeans? That's awful. How on earth did you cope at work or on holiday? Was your AF like that in the past as well? Mine has never been heavy, when I was a teenager my mum used to make me lie on a swimming towel at night just in case but it was never necessary! I've never had to use Super absorbency tampons.
Well AF has stayed away so far, been advised to do a preg test tomorrow day 28 but that's when she often arrives! :witch:

Personally, I would say it felt heavier as in cramping but in reality it was the same as when I was on the pill which wasn'tvery heavy . I only tend to use mini or regular tampons. Sorry if that is tmi. :)

Good luck blueflower - what test did you use? Hope af doesn't show x

Just a cheap 'One Step' one. If by some miracle the next one looks positive I'll try a Superdrug one!

I'd always say use a first response as they are pretty accurate and there would be no wondering. Good luck hun x

Definitely agree on First Response. I got a Boots one once and was beside myself when the blue cross faded and went and bought a First Response one anyway!
