Hi all,

I have found out last week I am pregnant, roughly 4-5 weeks. I only have 2weeks left at school which is great as I am already feeling the sickness. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a limit a teacher can teach? I have quite a heavy timetable where I teach 9 different subjects, have only 3 free lessons (NC) a week, 3 different qualifications and all over the school so will have to rush from one room to another room. This was difficult not being pregnant so cant imagine it when I am back after summer. Any advice please. Thanks

The only limit is the usual timetable. If you let them know, they may be able to adjust your timetable- maybe not to adjust the number of lessons, but to make it so you have to travel less between classes. You don't have to decide when you want to start mat leave until the 25th week, but it's best to give the latest date you think you'll make it to. You can always move that date forward with notice. I moved mine forward by a few days. Best thing to do is to talk to your line manager about your timetable next year. Good luck.

You should have 10% of your timetable as planning time. The rest of the time you would be expected to teach. The best thing to do is share your concerns with your head and see if they have any suggestions. I'm so glad there are only 2 weeks left. I'm exhausted!

Hi, I would talk to your HOD or line manager and see what they say. As you say, only 2 weeks to go! I would have thought they might be able to help re. roomings as at least they have time to change timetables before the new term. Good luck x

I would definitely let them know that you don't think it will be healthy for you to be rushing around like you have been. My classroom was on the third floor of a Victorian building (tall ceilings and no lift) so they moved me to the ground floor and all my classes were in the same place always x
