Had my daughter on Thursday. Im just wondering how long the stitches will take to heal? I really want to look to see how they look etc. But i dont want to incase i pass out lol. Im no good with things like that. Midwife said it looked swollen how long before that goes? Xxx

Mine took a few weeks. I used to run a very shallow warm bath and pour in tea tree oil before I went to the toilet. Then after toilet would get in and splash myself clean then pat dry with a towel. Toilet paper used to tear on my stitches.

I also found putting a few drops of oil on my maternity pads helped too. X

I had an episiotomy and was very swollen. Luckily it didn't hurt when I passed urine and definately dabbed rather than wiped for a good few days !!! Had two baths a day with the 'mum and me' bubble bath stuff as it contains arnica. It all takes a while to heal. I'm a nurse and not scared of gory stuff so took a pic on my phone to see lol !! Was very shocked how bruised and swollen I was. Kind of showed me I needed to ensure I rested. Tbh I couldn't sit down without doing it carefully for about 2 weeks. The stitches will get tight and itchy at times so baths will help. I'm all healed now and you can't tell that I had them atall. Take pain relief regularly as it helps a lot too.

Crikey if i got into the bath i wouldnt be able to get back out. Im scared of tearing. Im taking a shower once a day without using soap products. My mum suggest using salt to help with the healing process, even though it would sting. its not a pleasant thing to have done is it xxx

Mine took a good few weeks to heal !! Not very nice my midwife told me to use the shower head twice a day to keep it clean n take pain killers

my midwife checked my stitches and is happy with how they look. And just reasurred me everything is fine down their :) xxx

When did everyone stop using pads? Im still leaking and hate wearing them lol xxx

I bled for a good 6 weeks sometimes heavier than others hun xx

I used pads til I got a clear discharge no red/Brown blood x

I had labial (sp?) Stiches and they are fine now, no pain or anything and lo will be two weeks tomorrow :-). They stung so badly in the first few days though, but I just took a jug to the toilet and poured water over when I was weeing. Really didn't have time to shower twice a day so did the water pouring thing loads lol. I am guessing stitches in perenium would be a lot more painful though! X

It doesnt really hurt when i wee, but ive started doing is every other time use the loo is using a flannel and warm water and just cleaning the area. Is this ok to do? Xxx

Hi twinkle, im wearing pads still, driving me mad too!

Roman is 17 days now , doesnt seem to be stopping esp if im more active, been out walking etc

I took arnica pilules from boots, great help for bruising

Is normal to bleed a lot from stitches? As i think thats what happened early hours this morning. Their was no other discharge just pure blood xxx

One of my stitches feels like its open. I phoned the emergency midwifes and they said its normal. And they werent worried. Anyone else had this? They said to wait to see my mw in the morning. Surely its not normal? Xxx

Mine took about 2 weeks to heal. One of my stitches also came loose but ur skin will heal itself so as long as there is no infection ur ok.
I bled for 3 and half weeks. Then my 1st AF was 8/9weeks PP. I wore pads for that period as it was horrendous!! I bled more then than i did after giving birth!

But im due my 3rd AF next week and im back to wearing tampons. x
