I've been getting on quite well with my in laws lately but today I'm seriously pissed off. OH and I have decided that we would love to have the children christened on Christmas day seeing as we'd be going to church anyway and we think it would be a lovely day. Well we decided that we'd ask both sets of grandparents to be godparents and my parents were so positive and excited, especially since it means they will be able to spend the Christmas with us and their grandchildren! Well I spoke to mil today and she immediatly said 'you can't do that (have christening on Christmas day) there's little ones to think of' making it sound as though we're going to prevent them having presents etc by doing this. They're so against us going to church at all but DD has been so excited about being christened and it's really pissed me off that they can't be arsed to be involved in something that means so much to her! It's not like they even do anything on Christmas day! They just stay at home. I'm just so annoyed. We're going to go ahead with it anyway but I'm just annoyed.

Ah Helen I think thats a lovely idea and Im sure S especially will love it! Its great that your parents are so excited about it and want to be involved so run with it but you if MIL doesnt want to celebrate with you all dont loose any sleep over it...its their loss and they make a decision to not be involved is selfish IMO....no offense intended but I would be delighted to be invited to my grandchildrens christening on christmad day!

Good for you for sticking to your guns and ernjoy it all xxx

Thanks hon! Yeah it's definately their loss but I know they'll twist it so it's my fault! The galling thing is that mil practically begged to be involved in things to do with the kids as OH's ex cut them out and then she acts like this!

How dare they.. It's not like you are taking a whole day from them or putting anyone out, I think it's a beautiful idea.. I hope you have a wonderful day and like Wilma says, it's their loss, 110% xx

Ignore her! You are thinking of the little ones, she's the one that's not!! Christmas will be so magical for you and your family this year, don't let her spoil it! x x

I think it is a lovely idea so extra special why do people always have to put a dampener on things.

Defo agree with all the girls, beautiful idea. Sod her if she's gonna be like that, it's up to you what you do with YOUR childrenxmas day, not up to any one else at all! You enjoy your Xmas day. :D x

Thanks guys x OH got an earful when he got home but completely agrees with me! x feeling better about it now x
