Well I have survived another night. So far I have had about 6 hours sleep since 6am Sunday morning! I had to get induced in the end on Sunday as my BP was not behaving itself at all. They wanted to do it on Friday but I was't mentally ready so negotiated another 2 days with them!
Fortunately as I was deemed high(er) risk I was induced on delivery instead of in the ward so I had my own room throughout. Nothing happened with the drugs until 14 hours after they started me off when my waters broke. I had sent my husband home an hour earlier convinced nothing was happening! So he was called back after an hour or so... there were 2 screamers either side of me, so i was really pleased when he came back as he was able to take my focus off them as I was starting to get painful contractions.
Around 7am I was in established labour - 5cm dilated - wahey! Well done me, no gas and air or anything apart from a bath. So very pleased with progress even though I was in quite a lot of pain.
They brought the gas and air in and the next 4 hours were the most horrendous of my entire life. I have never felt pain like it. I never in my wildest dreams thought it would be that painful. I was convinced though that I was progressing.... but.... at my next check I had only gone 1 more cm!
Because i was higher risk they got worried about me, got me on the drip, got me an epidural (I could have married that man) and finally I was able to push at 6.20pm. And she arrived at 7.02pm! Apart from the 4 hours of hell in the middle, it wasn't a bad experience - my midwives were lovely. I have had some stitches - so in a bit of pain now but manageable!
It has been a very steep learning curve since we have got home!
The photos were taken pretty much straight away after delivery. Her cone head is becoming more normal shaped now!! (No suction involved, she just went cone head due to the delivery - weird)
