Well firstly I want to apologise for taking so long to write my birth story, I have been so busy recently but I am sorry.
On Tuesday 9th of November I was took in for my induction at 4pm, I was given a pessary at 6pm and the midwife said I had already started dilating and was 1cm. I had to sit on the bed for an hour then told that I should go for a walk as it helps speed things along but normally the first pessary doesnt work so I would most likely be getting another one at 12. Well Mark and I walked across the rd to mcdonalds and on the way I started getting pains. I thought there was no way that it was labour pains already so we took our time and while I was in mcdonalds the pains got worse, I couldn't even sit down so we rushed back to the hospital but I had to stop every min as the pains kept comming. I still wasn't convinced that I was in labour cause I imagined it would all happen so slow and expected the pains to start off with 20 minute gaps but these pains were really close together from the start, no more than 3 minute gaps. Anyway once we got back to the hospital I asked for pain relief and was offered two co-codamol! lol I couldn't believe it then I was told that I couldn't have the co-codamol as I had been given two paracetamol 3 hours before! I tried bouncing on a birthing ball and it did help a bit but by about 9pm the pains were unbearable so I demanded remi but was told I couldn't have it untill I was on the delivery suite which they wouldn't take me to as it was apparently full. I was in agony and all the midwife offered me was a bath, she said "by the time you have a bath there will be room for you on the delivery suite" so she went off to run the bath and I tried to make it down to the bathroom but was in that much pain I could hardly walk so the midwife said I think I should examine you first, she also offered me gas and air at this stage but it was making me feel sick so I didn't use it. When she examined me I was 8cm dilated and as soon as she was finished I got the urge to push. She told me to try not to push and rushed me up to the delivery suite but I couldn't help it and pushed with every contraction, I thought I was going to have my baby in the lift! I remember begging for remi or epidural but was told "there is no time, this baby is on its way!" so three pushes later at 10.15pm my gorgeous baby boy was born weighing 8lb 14!
I was in shock at how quickly it all happened but looking back now I am happy that I didn't have any pain relief as I believe thats why my labour was so quick.
