sad news

Well I had to have an emergency scan yesterday after losing brown discharge for 3 weeks. Unfortunately my worst fears were realised...as I looked at the screen I could see that the sac was empty. Apparently I have had what they call a missed miscarriage, where the baby has either died very early or not developed at all, but the placenta and sac continue to grow giving you the symptoms that you are still pregnant. I just feel so numb. The worst part is that I still have this little baby bump but I know there is nothing in there. Am going in for a D&C next week, they did say I could wait to see if the miscarriage progresses naturally but this could take weeks and it may not all come away, which could lead to an infection.

I'm devestated to have got this far, only another week and a half or so and I would have been 12 weeks, something I couldn't wait to reach so I could stop worrying so much. OH has been saying it's easier to just think there was nothing there to begin with, I know what he's saying but that's just so upsetting for me as it makes me feel I was never pregnant at all. My sister had the same thing where one of hers had died That was my main concern when I first found out I was.

thank you all for your lovely replies, comforting to have such great support and alsoto know that there are others who have been through the same thing. I have spoken to the EPU today and have been scheduled for an op on Monday, very soon but at least once it's done I will no longer "feel Pregnant" and can start coming to terms with things. Lexus how many weeks were you when you had the scan/found out? x x
