I'm up for it! not a very experienced cook. The next one I want to try is a cheesecake.

I also go to class on a mon but it is very basic things like apple pie, but what they're teaching us is to cook a healthier version with less sugar etc, or cook using the balance of food groups and varied meals. :) It's about how to cook healthily on a budget :)

I can help you with a cheesecake i love making them and im good its my fav thing to make

:cheer:

[quote="Jade_Number1":1cwm1am2]I need to learn how to cook! x

thats why im doing the cooking course  i took ages doing things last night but luckily managed to pair up with a woman almost as clueless as me. you should have seen us using the potato peelers :(

I cant peel potatos to save my life :([/quote:1cwm1am2]

I don't peel if I can help it.Just give them a quick scrub before cooking :D

Mash is tastier is the potatoes still have their skin on. If your boiling potatoes their tasty too, and if you don't like the skins, they'll fall off after cooking!

(I'm a very lazy cook!)

All the teachers and everyone were doing mine a bit because I was so slow- I was fine but think they thought I needed help :rotfl: because I was so slow.

I slightly had the excuse that there wasn't a left handed peeler- well that's how they were making allowances for me lol- but then they helped me chop some of the apples cos I was sloow at that too :)

I cool loads of different meals but I'm still kinda stuck in a rut.
I do

Casseroles (stew/ beef+tomato and creamy chicken from scratch, others from packet mix)
Shepheards pie
Spag bol
Roasts, mainly lamb and chicken with all the trimmings
Chili
Lasagne
tuna pasta bake

Then I do stuff with chips and pizza etc to fill the gaps and repeat these meals.

On new thin I do is grilled salmon with roasted vegetable cous cous with salad and crusty bread OMG it's lovely!

Who here uses cream for cooking? I never do, what cream to I need to buy to add to a chicken pasta pesto thingy?

Beckss, all my new recipes I'm trying are from WW books, tonight I'll do Smoked haddock Florentine with chive mash (core plan and 5 points).

Will post pics :cheer:

Urchin - single cream will be fine :D

I made rhubarb crumble and it was lovely (the rhubarb was a tad on the tart side...). the best bit about a crumble is the crumble though. Soz no photos...got eaten!!

Urchin this is the recipe i use for pesto cream sauce

6 large tablespoons of basil pesto
1 pint single cream
Chopped mushrooms
Sun dried tomatoes
Fresh garlic to taste
Fresh ground pepper to taste

Heat the pesto in a sauce pan over low heat. Slowly add the cream, stirring often. Add the rest of the ingredients. Cook and stir until sauce thickens. This is great over pasta and chicken!

I made cheesecake but it didn't set :x I was daft as usual and strayed from the recipe.

I also made loads. So now I have a lot of sickly creamy gloop :)

The biscuit base is nice tho :)

No good i give you recipe and look what happends lol

lol sorry. :) I was impatient and none of the corner shops had cottage cheese. OH has said he will make one, it will no doubt I think be yet another thing he's better at than me, like when he made excellent bath bombs, while my home made soap corroded the enamel off the loo when I chucked it  :)

reminds me of when I was about 15 and making a cheesecake at school!! It didn't have time to set and I had to walk home in the pouring rain PLUS we'd had to adapt it somehow and I used rice krispies as my base. Totally gross cos they went all soggy and I ended up like a swamp monster, covered in cheesecake! I was mad that my mum hadn't picked me up that day!

I'm restarting this thread as I made a steak pie for the VERY first time tonight.

I used a recipe my mum gave me for the pastry which was 8oz plain flour 4oz lard and water and a bit of salt, Was perfect!!! Tasted amazing, I made it in a 9inch dish me and OH had a quarter each, then bout an hour ago he went and ate the other half of the pie, i was hoping to freeze the remaining or something lol. :D

I did kinda cheat  as i used princes stewed steak for the filling - as a starter - can get more elaborate as i go on.

I have a great recipe for chicken in a creme fraiche pesto with grapes. More of a summer dish though. But bloming yummy. Serve with cold rice or pasta usually.

I can't use a potatoe peeler, just unable to.. My dad taught me how to do them with the smallest sharp knife you have and so that is how i do mine lol OH uses the potatoe peeler.
