Rent cut for the overweight,

:shock::faint: I think I will abstain of really saying my opinion lol

Smokers are taxed the earth! So more than pay for nhs thats a load of toss

They should tax unhealthy food! It would help me lose weight.for sure

Cuttings benefits is totally outrageous I work and so does oh.so its not like it affects me but makes me mad to see...its not justifiable when so many people keep up alcoholism or a drug. Habit.on the.dole!

 fapatalking

They should tax 50 inch flatscreen tvs

My fats bought and paid for too, they do tax the cigs a stupid amount but if it was purely on health reasons and not financial they would do it too, it just shows its all about money, there hoping to not pay a lot of people who dont go and save money.
What they need to do is give help and free gym/swimming for those who need and want it but not cut money for those that dont.

My dad had a drug addict move in one of his houses, she didnt pay rent for three months even though the dole where paying her, they said there was nothing he could do until three month of rent was owed then they would start paying it to him. After three month she did a runner and the council never paid my dad because they had already paid her it. so basically we know the council dont care about the landlords at all and if they stop the money will they help evict the tenants or claim it back from them? or have this stupid three months rule? Why should my dad be paying a mortgage for someone to live there and the council cut his money because the tenants won't go to the gym?

And if they cut it from council tax less people will pay there bill. I just dont see how it will work.

It sounds daft doesnt it? I mean how are they going to track all these people going to the the gym etc? All the money saved would surely go on maintaining the rules?

Far more things to tax and get money out of than targeting anyone overweight

 fapatalking

A single thing I will say. Obesity same as alcoholism is a disease. People need help not to be fobbed and play the police with them going to the gym.
God my patients not only they will not loose weight like that but also avoid to come to the doctor. Oh well done. That was smart lol.

There will prob be a system every April at renewal times that they swipe the cards and it will give a yes or no answer if it is no it will prob be looked into - I should imagine :-/ if not I agree all saved money will be going into regulating it its insane :-/

Hope surely free gym membership is helpin?

And its not always a disease...just saying

Really dont want to offend anyone here lol

 fapatalking

How are they going to tie up whose overweight, whose on benefits and who has seen their gp, and whose refused help?

Surely doctor patient confidentiality?

Im not getting any benefits so it doesn't affect me but id like to know the reasoning.

I'm classed as obese I'm 5ft 2 and Bmi is 31.7 without being pregnant I exercised for 2 hours a day. Eat a vegan diet and was a qualified Zumba instructor yet because of my Bmi which is not helped by my height! I'm classed as obese never mind my 34 FF Boobs adding to the weight or left over skin from being 16st 9 at one point but I will be penalised for it! This is me obese and not pregnant

But my obesity is clearly a disease and I need to have my money taken away from me because of it :-(

I agree i went to the doctor for help and he couldn't do anything because of the governments rules, now it feels like there accusing me of not trying, if it was easy to loose weight do they think there would be so many obese people.

I have tried so many diets etc and the only thing i found to help loose weight was when i joined a gym for 6 weeks (it was a deal) but i couldn't afford to go off the deal. The doctor did say i dont need a gym to exercise but do you have any idea what its like to jog down the road when your so phobic of how you look - probably not so much now as i have become comfortable with how i look but before when i felt bad about my weight the last thing i wanted to do was exercise in public (outdoors) all i could picture where people laughing in there cars as they drove past. i just wanted a dedicated 'safe' excercise place - the gym. But the fact there wanting to force people to do it will have the opposite effect in my mind. It will make feel like there been punished for how they look, they should have made it a massive positive push 'free gym membership for low income families' would have gone down much better with me.

Its only a proposal anyways.i.doubt it will happen as there are too many variables in doing it

 fapatalking

Yea I hope so giving us gym passes yes I would use it as an when I could but taking money off us if we don't use it enough.. not good

Well obesity is classified as a disease regardless what's the cause of it.
ofc fee gym will help but not all of my patients are ok to go to gym as lots have cardiac problems and need special gym, others have too busy of a life for gym but they may enjoy walking the puppy etc and about most of them they can't just go to the gym as they are too obese for exercise right away they need motivation to loose weight/ medical management and in my opinion forcing them to its not going to end well. Probably better would have been to actually offer then an one time amount of money if their doctor thinks that they reached their goals. Then they may not only be motivated but come to see me more often lololol

It's not the free gym it's the monitoring of it that I myself see it as a violation of personal rights.

Open.to abuse tho isnt.it rewarding healthy weight with a lump sum

I can see people piling it on just to lose it if you got a cash sum as reward

They wont pass this proposal I highly doubt it

 fapatalking

Ha ha yes it was only an example of positive reinforcement instead of punishing. Probably it would never work in nowadays society lol :)

Whilst i think uk needs help with population getting larger, i am not sure this is the right way to do it.
Maybe all peoole need is councelling and changing attitude towards food but there need to be specialists acessing.

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

It'll never pass there are far too many provisions and difficulties policing it x

What about all those illnesses and medication that have a side effect of weight gain?

No matter how much you exercise you'll not loose it with those. Just look at PCOS - side effect of that is weight gain and before I had athritus I worked with race horses every day but still couldn't shift the PCOS weight!

Wasn't until I'd had enough and demanded to get my PCOS under control that I was put on tablets that helped stabalise my blood sugars and hormone levels thus reducing my weight.

I know many people with diabetes (my uncle for one) who do long work hours and play sports and eat healthy yet can never shift the weight. To penalise them will be horendous!

we're assuming they aren't going to take these things into consideration. Im pretty darn sure this if it was to happen (Its only been proposed by one council) it would be managed on a case by case basis x
