Agree with Kirls and Lou on this one Im affriad

I know of lots of people complaing via friends reletives etc they cant afford their council rents as they dont get enough benefits or wages etc etc or they post this problem online....I see one problem with this, your posting it online, so get rid of the internet.....people I know who complain have Sky TV, Net, go out every weekend, have a car when they dont ''need'' one etc, if they just god rid of the luxurys. We for example don't have sky, net at home or even a land line phone..why, because we can't afford it simple!

Rent going up £5 a week....my mortgage went up £40 month every other month last year, we struggled but cut back on luxurys something lots of people dont / wont do!

I'd like to say personaly sorry to the lady who posted this thread thats its turned into a slanging match. im sure she never thought this would happen

I go away for one night!

No need to apolygise. No, I certainly didn't expect this to happen.

I simply couldn't recall the council going up this much and as we'd been assured we wouldn't see any difference in our rent increases, I just wondered how much the council had gone up. Thats all. I wasn't complaining or b1tching, after all I do expect my rent to go up and especially in this current financial climate. Also having rented privately my entire adult life I am aware I'm lucky to have a HA property (even though the circumstances surrounding it involved the death of my steparent)

Wish I'd never have asked!

But thanks to the people who did anwser my question :D
Looks like I can expect it to go up £260 every year then!!

Haven't been on for a while but just saw this, have to agree with Lou I'm afraid, she only said that some people think the world owes them a living and some people do! And jw has it in a nutshell about the net etc, if you are in debt and not alble to pay your bills then for goodness sake cut out all the unnecessary luxuries - net, sky etc, by working hard my taxes are going towards paying for people to have low rent so they can then afford things that I consider luxury!

:rotfl: I always kill threads, I consider myself a public service!!! :rotfl:

I've killed a few threads in my time too :D

I've only just been bothered to sit and read this thread... it appears to have run it's course so I won't start it back up again but for the record, as usual, I agree with lou.
