Rent cut for the overweight,

Now on the TV there saying it would be a cut to benefits, when i looked on-line its a cut to rent and council tax benefit... so my question is as my dad is a landlord for a few people on Benefit if they refuse to go to the gym will they re-home them asap as there refusing to pay full rent? Because to be honest a lot of people on the dole wont give a shit if there landlord looses money as it is such a pain in the arse to evict someone and even then the council would have to home them so its no loss to them its a loss to the landlord really!

Also what about people with young children? Because i would love to go swimming or to the gym for a couple of hours on an afternoon but i wouldn't be able to with LO, unless they class sitting in the baby pool as exercise.

And whats with the council lieing! I went to the doctors two years ago to ask for help with my weight and they said 'unless you have a serious health condition there is nothing available to you' so i said 'so you will wait for me to get so fat i have a heart attack and then you will send me to the gym' and the dr's answer was 'well yes its the regulations im sorry but until then my hands are tied'
And then there on tv acting as if there has always been help there and it just hasn't been used, there wasn't any fekking help i love the gym but can't afford £30 a month to go!

They had a few people on the tv saying how much they agreed with it, which is fine, but i wonder if they will still agree when they start cutting money for smoking or taking drugs and binge drinking, you can bet any money if they do it for one group they will soon do it for all.

Stone but still fat so we loose money and the kids suffer?! Were in a privet rented properly with estate agents but receive money off the government as my husband can only find part time work. We signed a contract agreeing to pay "set" amount for "set" time so basically they would be taking food off our children's plates if they did that we would have to declare homeless and see if we could be housed as we struggle enough as it is. We had £10 for food and toiletries last week! And back upto our £40 this week! We don't get take out so that's all the money! I'm fuming I really am

Are they going to cut the pay of their staff that are overweight? I very much doubt it!

I know they need to make cuts and save money, and there are an awful lot of people on benefits that shouldn't be (but that's a whole other thread) I am just not sure this is the best way to go about it?

I totally agree ^^^ it's discrimination! What they going to do next cut my money more as I'm partly Hispanic and say well your grandad that came over wasn't British all them years back and we have to make cuts somewhere - it really is getting stupid!

Apparently its your GP who will refer you, so i will refuse to go to a gp! I dont think they will do it to pregnant women but i dont know how it will work, i want to go to the gym or swimming but even i would be pissed at been forced to go. They say there will be these electronic cards that monitor how long your at the gym to see if you have gone enough, what happens if your on holiday so can't go? Or if your ill? How will they stop people scamming it by giving other people there card? How will they monitor if you actually do anything once there?

I feel sorry for the gym staff who will have to deal with lots of angry upset people who dont want to be there and dont want to listen.

im all for healthy initiatives i asked myself for the gym two years ago but there are ways to do it.

Also what about all the people who pay to use the gym but because there a healthy weight wont get it for free, i would resent paying if loads where there for nothing.

Just read it that's stupid what am I meant to do with the kids while I'm out at a leisure centre?! Bloody impractical they would expect DH and I to do this by the sounds of it which means it would have to happen when DH is at home so one of us could watch the kids an he isn't home much! Or it's stupid hours they really don't think!

Also I was thinking - if doctors did refure you as knowing the government everyone will be made to have a check up to qualify if you did need exercise and went to the gym how many people would take advantage of going and using the steam room for an hour 3x a week! Lol!!! You know?! And I bet if your sick or have a reason for not going you would have to have a gp letter and then next year they will be saying all "x" amount of people could still afford a holiday we will now reduce out payments more!

Yea he does work for that but as he is only part time they make the money up for us so we can afford basic living costs so they will be thinking surely that we have more than we say?! Ours is also a family caravan lol

I said the same there are smokers, drinkers, drug takers, all using the nhs the same. Also i read somewhere about some physiologists that are studying eating disorders in over weight people, but these are still un recognised and i can see it doing some damage to certain people physiologically.

Cuttings benefits is totally outrageous I work and so does oh.so its not like it affects me but makes me mad to see...its not justifiable when so many people keep up alcoholism or a drug. Habit.on the.dole!

Apparently its not its for anyone who is overweight or obese, if there on the sick they will not be made to do it i dont think because they wouldnt be able to without hurting themselves.

Morbid obesity I agree maybe a kick up arse is whats needed.if their.health is at risk!!!

Surely not just for people who are overweight tho?

Im classed as overweight despite being.size 12?? My bmi reckons I am so wouod that mean I'm not entitled to as much ( if I claimed)

No if it was just that I would be ok with it but both me and my DH receive them benefits as he can't get full time work and allot of my friends also where one parent works and the other has young children and/or pregnant and it will effect allot of us

Also I would work I'm overweight but very healthy I'm a qualified Zumba instructor and was told by mw to stop as I was bleeding heavily in early pregnancy and now no one will employ me as I'm blatantly preggers - really can not win and my Bmi is 31.7!
