It's that time of year again. I've just caught my first cough and cold. As soon as I'm well I'm booking in for the flu jab.

It can be administered anytime during pregnancy and is perfectly safe. Having had flu before I highly recommend having it done (I've also had 2 winter pregnancies and I've had both flu and whooping cough jabs both times)

Flu jab can be given at any gestation so don't delay.

My arm is currently in pain from whooping cough vaccine haha it feels like ive been punched!

I totally forgot about it, i remember with my first being worried about the vaccine and it didnt hurt at all and thats all i remembered not the major soreness after but its all coming back to me now.

Not to put anyone off! The vaccine isnt sore i personally just get achey sore arm pains after.

My GP won't offer it until after my 20 week scan. I see my consultant on Tuesday so I'll be asking her. I swear my GP is stupid

Think mine will be offered at my 20week scan I remember them offering it to mums at their 20week scan when I went for my dating one.

I had my whooping cough yesterday and the nurse asked if I wanted the flu jab whilst I was there. Regretted that decision last night when I struggled to sleep on either side with my aching arms! Glad I got it all done though.

I had my flu jab today, I’m 18 weeks. First time I’ve been ever had it, got an achey arm, but no issues otherwise x

I always get the flu jab at work, usually means I can get it sooner. One if my colleagues refuses it every year which of course is entirely her decision, but she's never had proper flu and really minimises the deadly potential of passing it on to vulnerable people we work with. It makes me sad.

I have never had this done and I dont intend to either. (i guess not until i have a bad flu)

Anyone had any negative side effects from the jab?

Have had it in both my previous pregnancies and other than a dead arm, no side effects.

Usually I don't get offered the jab but I am in an "at risk" group when pregnant (meaning flu can be more damaging and harder to recover from)

Had flu when I was 13 and I have never been so ill, had to have my mum take me to the toilet and was almost hospitalised after barely being able to even drink for a week.

There is no way I'd want to contend with flu and be heavily pregnant

A pharmacist did mine the other day - surprisingly easy, so refreshing! I've had flu before, but I'd have got it even if I hadn't, you never know when you might pick these things up esp with weakened immune system while pg x

I have my whooping cough one coming up as I'm now 20 weeks so can book it! I'm a big girl as I'm needle phobic!! Absolutely terrified of them!! I didn't have either injection last time!, will have the whooping cough one but not the flu one! My OH had it last year and it made him really poorly! In a way it put me right off! Having to work with a cold isn't so good! (I'm offered it every year due to my asthma) but I don't want it! I know I'm probably the biggest idiot going for not having it :/

I've just gotten off of the phone to the doctors, booked my flu jab for 23rd

Ive noticed people that have had the flu before will never make the grave mistake of missing a jab ever!

O/h has it routinely too.

Have booked mine for Monday.

4yo will get his at school and 2yo gets it from GP (annoyingly she needs a separate appointment though!)

x

I haven't booked mine yet... I didn't have it last time I was pregnant either. Prob will get it this time

This is what scares me about not having it JustTrying, I've heard horror stories about people catching flu in pregnancy, and to me it's just not worth the risk!

I had my flu jab.

I get a lot of pressure to have it at work anyway as it is a corporate performance target (I work in NHS at a large trust).

I am however normally anti flu vaccine for myself on the whole, but this isn't just about me and catching flu when you're pregnant can cause a stilbirth or serious complications for the baby.

I don't normally have it when not pregnant either!

I have had 3 winter babies though and have had it in both prior pregnancies without any complications. I have also had the flu when I was younger and it was awful.

Are you getting it for your daughter TORino? I believe James will get it at school?

x
