Please Read - OBSTETRIC CHOLESTASIS

Thanks Olive, I'm 37 weeks xx

I broke down earlier for the first time since pg, it's just awful. I am doing everything but even leaving the house is hard-everything that comes into contact with my skin sets me off.

God so sorry to moan there are far worse things to happen. I'm just so disappointed I really have loved every minute of being pregnant but this has just totally ruined the last week for me & driving me to despair. I don't even feel like eating anything either.

If its PUPP are there any tablets I can take?xx

Hi Olive, thanks for putting up the link for your 'itchy stretchmarks' thread and link for PUPPP in wiki...I have been suffering with itchy stretchmarks and now have a rash on my tummy and it would seem that I fit all the criteria for PUPPP...I will probs speak to my midwife about it but its helpful to put a name to a symptom in the meantime!

No worries ladies. I diagnosed myself really too! I had slightly high BP at 38 wks and had to go in for monitoring. I showed them then as mw and doc were dismissive. They did tests to confirm not OC and this wonderful doctor came down and took pity on me saying it was severe. It was a monday and she booked me in for induction on the Wednesday.

I hope it eases up for you both. They prescribed me creams and antihistamines, but I'd check before taking them. Xxxx

Does anyone know why my itching is bad but biochemistry levels are low??? I seem to range between 6 and 54 each week. It's odd cause the mw said sometimes the itch catches up with the high levels eventually, but whys it not just constant? I got cream today too. Phoned them yesterday in tears, I've already suffered over 7weeks and simply had enough. Fx cream helps! The menthol could do to be stronger but it's chilling in the fridge for my 2am itch monster who will almost certainly arrive. Xxx

Oh babe I don't have any answers for you but just want to say I really feel for you I really do understand how horrible it is :(

Thank you. Don't think anyone truly understands when they've never had it. The cream was a help last night though, I only itched for about 2 hours lol! I see mw on Friday, will ask questions then. Xx

Noone will understand unless they've had it ur right.. I got no sympathy from anyone in my family :( its not a 'normal itch' it can't be satisfied by scratching :( two hours isn't too bad :cheer: hopefully the creams will work and your mw will be able to give you some answers!

Well I had my bloods back I have OC have appointment tomorrow with mw, then specialist to discuss being induced.

As long as baby is ok I couldn't give a tuppence about my birth plan.

Thank god for this thread, my doctor said it's very rare & I probably never heard of it before but I thought yes I have! My symptoms do look like very much to PUPPPS though so I would advise anyone with an itch to go get their bloods tested.

I'm lucky I have developed this so late on Gayle it's a total nightmare you have my full sympathy!xx

Sorry to hear you have OC but I'm glad you've found out and they can get things sorted for you and bubs!!

WSS^^ hope you're ok Hun xxxx

Thanks ladies xxx

Seeing specialist tomorrow & midwife & doctor is calling too. Happening quickly but it's good I dont want to take any risks. I've gone from wanting a natural birth to a csection reading about likely hood of baby in distress, still birth & merconiun I dont want to take any chances.

My skin is raw but they have given anti histamines now to take so I hope it calms down at night. Im lucky really to have it now than early on. Xxx

Good luck sunbeam, it's awful so I'm glad the options are close for you now. I'm away to douse myself in menthol lard! Lol xxxx

 big hugs ladies. The itching is awful and I know how it feels at night when you're tired.

Oh no Olive you poor thing!

My legs look like that too, I found sitting naked in a cotton sheet next to a fan helps me...can't believe how quickly things change I was having the easiest pregnancy!

My routine at the moment is icepacks then shower, cream applications & in bed just a cotton sheet with the fan opposite but I keep an extra blanket round my middle otherwise I wake up shivering!

What menthol cream do you take? I have a cream but running out will up my prescription today!

On a positive only got up once last night thanks to the anti-histamine!

Appointments today so will keep you posted!xxx

Hi my love. That pic was january. Had my boy 8m ago now but I still remember the frustration of itching. My ankles still itch oddly.

I can't remember the menthol but it was a mixture of 2 creams in a tub. Aqueous I think as I bought aqueous for my lo and the smell took me right back to hospital!

Hope appt goes well. Xxx

Midwife didn't agree with the doctor so was sent to hospital for bile salt test, liver & reduced movement.

Firstly I never for a second thought I had reduced movement & luckily LO was full of beans!

Mw thinks I have a bad rash not OC....so I find out tomorrow even though I was diagnosed yesterday with OC, either way baby is fine, engaged & I'm still itching but I can live with it ;)

Dramas!x

Ps I asked doc for menthol aqueous cream after reading your threads so trying that out later!xxxx

Oh hun must be horrible being back and forth like that :( I hope they sort things out soon and get the diagnosis right!xx

I've had high to low bile acids for 7+ weeks now- my consultant diagnosed oc on high readings and the constant itch. One day I went and it was a different cons and the levels were low so he said I didn't have oc. The next week the levels were back to high and have been like a yo-yo since. I really don't get why they don't just stay the same. I've to go bk tomorrow and will see what they say. I'm fed up too, 19 sleeps....ha, change that to 19 awakes cause what's sleep. Just had to leave my yummy mr In our bed whilst I go to the spare room cause my itch is awful tonight. Didn't think feeling good would last long. Im deadbeat too. Aaaaaaaaah. This bloody better be relieved as soon as she's delivered! Couldn't cope with it any longer. Xxx
