Please Read - OBSTETRIC CHOLESTASIS

Thank you. That's the thing, it's not something people get...I've been told to 'just scratch the itch!' if only. But having chronic fatigue syndrome I'm used to people just not getting it.

I'm booked in for a section on 2 October so it's not long now. Xxx

God if only!!! It's like there's a barrier between the skin and the itch so no matter how hard u scratch u just can't get it!! I really feel for u right now!!
Look at the positives.. You know your baby's birth day already, so you can be 100% prepared! You'll have a section so labour won't wear you out to nothing!

What's the earliest this can start?? I remember when I was first pg I had a chronic itch on my legs and I'd scratch them til they were red but I put this down to washing powder as I changed it not long after and it stopped, I had slightly itchy legs and arms this morning I'm being tested for everything in 3 weeks

excuse typos fat preggy fingers tapping away :)

I'm not sure how early it can start but from what I was told yesterday (got tested yesterday, get results later today) its a problem of the second and third trimester. Great that you're getting tested though, definitely a thing that's better safe than sorry. Good luck! xx

I have noticed that I have started itching a lot more lately especially on on my hands and legs. Sometimes feel like my whole body is itching all over. I had bloods taken at my 28 week app 2 weeks ago, with they have tested for OC then? I don't get hot just itchy but it doesn't stop me sleeping at night. Maybe just another joyful symptom of pregnancy or OC?

Think they have to do an extra test mrs woody to check bile acids. I'd certainly urge youto get tested ASAP even if slight suspicion. I really hope it's not for you. I'm sick of it, it's only been 3 weeks and I've still 6 to go! Just hate the itching. Xxx

Thank you Gayle will give the midwife a call tomorrow and see what they say. x

Yeah they do seperate tests for it.. Best to get checked out hope all is okay!xx

I'm at the end of my patience with this. I'm incredibly itchy tonight. For the last 8 nights it's been the same. I can't sleep and I'm physically exhausted. Can't help but wonder if my bile levels have crept up again. Would that mean that I'm itchier? My hands are starting to get worse too. Aaaaaaaah :( xx

Has anyone discussed PUPPP with you Gayle? I had it in the end and it was horrendously itchy, especially at night. Had me in tears. Here's an old link. I was tested for OC and didn't have it.

They did thanks olive-but it's been confirmed as oc. I'm in tomorrow for bloods and ctg. might have to see obout the ile reducing meds, although the consultant didn't seem to think they were worth bothering with. She's not the one scratching 12 hours per night! Thank you for the link, will have a look. Only 40 more sleeps to go!!!!!! Xxx

Oh sorry hun I missed that. You poor thing. You might end up getting induced, which may be no bad thing. It's horrible feeling so itchy when you're tired and carrying a baby. Take care xxx

Yeah I am. 37+2. Was already having a section so they just brought me forward to the nearest theatre slot to 37 weeks. I just want the baby here now!!! Xxx

Do you contact your mw or GP, does it matter who? I'm now worrying myself as I'm waking with terribly itchy hands during the night and nothing stops it! x

I shouldn't think it matters either way.. Try for your mw if not ur gp xx

It's worth getting some tests done hun I hope it all goes well xxx

I have bloods taken today things are so bad this thread is very useful. If I was to self diagnose I'd say I've got PUPPS not OC but just to explain what it's like here are my legs & arm!

Sorry to gross anyone out! I'm on calamine lotion, cold showers & ice packs. Night time is just the worst!!

Xxx
