B is on 7 month old jars but is paying loads of interest in my foods last nite i gave him a little bit of Bread and he loved it!! and tonite kept going to grab my food (lil monstor)
so i was just wondering wen babies can start to have proper foods?

What do you mean by proper foods? Not sure if I'm right so if not can someone correct me but why not just blend what you have for dinner. For example if you have chicken with veg or something could you not mash that up? As long as you are not using any salt it should be ok?

i had a leaflet from my health visitor that said from the age of 1 a baby can have the same meals as the rest of the family for dinner..
dior eats every thing now apart from curries lol
from about 9months she has been.
he should be fine now with alot more finger foods, Dior loved feeding herself.

Yep that all looks correct to me beanie.

With my 2 I never brought jars or packets I just mashed up normal foods.
I started with things like bananas and some other things when they were 4 months.

Then once they were used to that I used to make mashed potatoe and other vegetables, very well mashed then as they get older you just make it more lumpy.

This can be really good because you can make a batch and freeze it in several smaller tubs, just don't add salt when you cook for babies as this can be harmfull.

If you needed any ideas there are plenty of books or websites with recipes suitable for your little one

Cheers Suz, its what I'm hoping to do with Seren and will try and get her used to as many different flavours as possible as am too lazy to cook different meals. Obviously I will follow guidelines and introduce one food at a time but want her to get used to our food very quickly. Am lucky as I don't use salt anyway :D

B has been on that faze but want like proper foiod like carrot as n finger food etc

sarah he should be fine with carrots and stuff Dior was fine, shes now hit the stage of wanting to feed her self with her spoon... messy but fun..

lol B is doing that two. we gave his a little bit of bready yest and he loved it

Hiya Sarah.

Braydon should be ready for most finger foods now.

Good ideas include:

raisin bread
cheese
cooked carrot
toast
cooked brocolli
pieces of apple and banana

He may choke a little at first so just make sure you are alway supervising!

this one is my fav!

don't cook the apple, you can put dairy lea on the toast is you want but it will have salt in so maybe not yet.
no blue or weird cheeses I'd start with mild cheddar cut into strips.

:)

That raison (spl) bread is so yummy we all love it in this family!!!

hi sarah, babies can have "our" food from the start, as long as its in liquid form and you dont put any sugar or salt in it.

I used to steam veg and chicken breats etc, then blend them all up with boiled water to give to my 2.

im just going to start to do the same for Coby now.

when they got to B's age i gave them pasta n sauce, soft veg, like broc, carrots etc. he can also have toast, bread, eggs is another good one.

basicly he can have anything that is soft.

good luck

xx

I know ella isnt old enough yet but when the time comes Ill be scared to give her things like apple incase she chokes! Silly I know but I choked a few years ago on a sugar snap pea and it was horrible I really thought I was going to die  and its really affected how I eat now I wont eat sugar snap peas anymore lol and I eat really slowly and chew for ages

So Ill be so worried when Ella starts eating foods like this, maybe a first aid course would make me feel better so if she did choke Id know what to do

lauz i am still like this i am terrified but my mum has made sure i kow wot to do

if its in a mesh bag, how do they get the food?

or am i being thick here? lol

xx

I recently saw this gadget, but the look of it horrified me. It must work though - have you got one Urchin? Any good?
