It's dawned on me that we have 10 weeks until our baby is born.... and we have literally NO idea about a name.

We haven't even got a proper shortlist, just a few things we wrote down that neither of us like.

We've TRIED to pick names, but nothing seems right!
Books, internet research, film credits etc.... nothing leads to anything!

So...
What inspired you or helped you when it came down to naming?
and
Has anyone not picked a name until after the birth?!

we wrote ten names down each and joined the lists for each sex and then one by one we took it in turns to rule them out it was great as i knew straightaway some of the names i was pushing he really didnt like which meant they were a def no-no.... xx

I came up with the name after hearing a name I really like but I wanted it to be unique. so I like Esmeralda but me and babies dad have chosen Ezziemai. so I guess it depends on whether you want unique or classic? xXx

Me and my OH never agree on names. We have only just decided on about 3 names, as it has taken us this long to agree! To be honest I'm not finalising it until she's born. So I would say it's ok to wait once they are born as you don't know what they are going to look like x

Laceys name was decided when I was about 12 weeks! I found it in a baby name book and we both fell in love!
Charley's was alot harder. We didn't agree to it until I was around 35 weeks! I looked in books, Internet, telly but nothing stood out until Tim txt me charley and I've always liked the name and that way of spelling it cos it's different!
I bet your find a name when you least expect it!!

With DD I had no ideas, no shortlist, no list in fact!!!!! She didn't have a name until 5 hours after she was born and I'd 'met' her iygwim x

With Sebastian we had his name settled from around 24 weeks. As soon as I heard it I just loved it and it 'felt' right x

We had all our names decided way before birth, It's a control thing for me, but to be fair , it does help lots having an OH that unless he hates a name, will go along with whatever I wish! (sometimes I wish he did have more opinions, but it has it's advantages!).

I chose all 8 first and middle names for my kids , baby to be!

Some just felt perfect, and some needed more work, but buy working on it every day using internet , credits like you do , you will get there.

We managed to sort out a girls name fairly easily, I was really surprised. I had a first name in mind that I desperately wanted to use, it took me ages to tell OH what it was because I didn't want to tell me he hated it! When I finally told him he agreed. A second name followed really quickly. Both could change though if the baby doesn't suit them.

Boy's names have been far more difficult. One of his boys is already called one of my favourite boys names, so that rules that one out! We've toyed with a few, but I think we're going to have to wait to meet the baby, maybe something will become obvious? I'm really hoping so because although the bump is yellow, it has a hint of blue following a late scan (OH thinks he saw bits). Having said that, I'm beginning to think this baby is never going to come out!!!!

im abit like jj mum my o/h just says yes to whatever so I have never really had the problem of agreeing about a name. I only found out the sex with my second and I found it easier knowing what she was .
