October Mummies

Well done SS79 on passing your theory test! :yay:
Hope all goes well with the midwife Tues DW1978 - I have to say I share the same fears too in them not finding a heartbeat....I think it's because at this stage you don't have as many reassuring pregnancy symptoms like you get in tri 1. We must keep positive though - I'm sure everything will be fine.
M2A - Crete how lovely - you'll have a fab time - I would definately take notes with you or perhaps photocopy them just in case they get lost?

I have a fairly quiet weekend planned - lots of washing to catch up on after hols zzzzz OH is also on at me to sort out the spare room as we're getting a little collection of baby things in there now and it's a complete mess! Hopefully will get some free time to go for a swim at local pool and then if the weathers nice have a couple of hours in the garden to browse through my mothercare catalogues! :) x x

I've got another long weekend...YAY!! Its our Liberation Day on Monday (anniversary of when Guernsey was liberated after the war) so we have a local bank holiday. There are celebrations going on in the town centre - street entertainment, old vehicle display, steet panint, face paint, stuff for the kids, food etc - so we will take a wonder into town (providing the weather is ok). Tonight I've got a lovely quiet night as hubby is out so I'm intending to watch Holby City, Misbehaving Mums to be and then going to be to read my book which is fab. Tomorrow night we have a couple of people round. Sunday day time we have a small show to watch that Lennon is in and then after that I'm going for afternoon tea with all my girlies friends for one of their birthdays )

Is it standard to have a 16 and 20 week scan in Guernsey or are you considered high risk?

I'm not having a scan hun, just going to the mw. At this appointment she task my bloods for screening and listens to babies heartbeat.

We used to get 3 scans at 12, 20 and 35 weeks but now they've reduced that to two at 12 and 20 weeks, not sure if the UK is the same?

Ah that makes sense then. For some reason I thought you were having scan at 16 and 20. Yes in UK (at least where I am) its only 2 scans as standard, 12 and 20. You only get offered more down here if you are high risk or there is a problem.

And yes I have a mw appointment next week, with lots of other girls having loads of scans throughout their pregnancy I for some reason thought you had 2 in 4 weeks which I thought was strange, so I thought I'd ask.

xxx

I'm starting to get jealous that everyone is getting a 16 week midwife appointment and I have to wait till I'm 24 weeks! I did have all my bloods done at 12 weeks though and the nuchal screening so suppose I don't need anymore bloods taken! Oh my nuchal results came back yesterday as low risk so very happy with that, its a bit of a worry as an 'older' mum!

No plans for the weekend, might go wandering round the carboot sales if the rain stays away!

Hello lovely ladies! Like this thread M2A, great idea!
I am feeling very tired still- working hard and seem to be busy at weekends too so not much time to catch up on sleep but I know I'm going to have to soon, feeling really drained! Sickness seems to be nearly gone though (touch wood) which is great!........Got 2 weeeks til I see MW and get to hopefully hear a strong heart beat.......am pretty nervous about it at the mo. It's hard to go from 12 week scan to nothing until 18 weeks! After that we have our '20' week scan June 14th and have decided to find out the sex.....both of us think it's boy at the mo! .......Am off on my hols to Wales in July- am hoping just to chill out and relax, going back to a place we've been to before, so know it'll be nice!
Am struggling a bit on the clothes front though- hardly any of my trousers fit now and I'm starting to get maternity wear bit by bit, but it's difficult when things I want are out of stock online- grrrrr!! Not bought anything for bubba yet but have made a list......think we'll start looking around soon! Am still scared to start buying tho :-s
Best bit of news this week was getting our letter saying bubba is not high risk for downs- following our nuchal scan, so that's good! :)
Hope you're all having a good weekend :)

love this thread. saw midwife at 17 weeks, went well and heard baby for first time. scan on 20th.

right before OH and I go away for a few days, so excited!

Feeling all broody and excited today! Went and picked up a trial pack of cloth nappys today and they are just so cute and really soft! Lots of areas do these packs, I got the link in the alternative parenting thread on here. I got 5 different types in the pack to help decide which ones I like best! Becoming more real when you get stuff like nappys!

Never really thought about cloth nappies, ive always gone for pampers or asdas own (they are brilliant for anyone whos looking at what nappies to buy) x x

I only thought of it this time round, there seems to be a bit of promotion of them just now. I'm not a big fan of all the landfill but guess they are not much better because of the washing, should work out cheaper though!

I guess I just looked at the eaiser option, ive got a fair few packs of disposables now, as I bought a few packs last time and ive picked up a few this time, but i wish i would of considered them x x

hey October mummies how are you all? I had my 16 week appoint today, heard the heartbeat nice and strong :) :) OH was able to come with me so was nice for him to meet the midwife. Also thought we felt some flutters the other night, midwife said it shouldn't be long before we feel proper kicks x x

Bella, thats lovely news xxx

I had my appointment through for my 28 week Midwife check and GTT (glucose test) for Wednesday 10th August at 9am (will take all morning, yawn!!). Not looking forward to that, must remember to take a good book!

I had to place yet another order on New Look today for some more vest tops and leggings, I'm having a nightmare. Placed an original order a few weeks ago. Then last week I decided I needed another pair of leggings as I'm literally living in them everyday so placed another order. On Monday I got one of the vest tops and the new leggings ready to go out and I have managed to lose them???!!! God knows how!! I've hunted high and low for them but no sign. Also, went to get another of the vests off my clothes horse this morning and my bloody cats have climbed up it and put loads of big holes in it. Gutted.

Glad your mw appointment went well hunny :) :yay: on feeling flutters, wait until your little ones booting you all night keeping you a wake, Adam did that and hes still not changed! :) x x

lol that's funny! Yes I imagine the novelty might wear off once it starts keeping me awake! x x

Glad the app went well bella, it's nice getting the little flutters!
M2A I have 1 pack of disposables so far, I'll prob end up using them for camping trips or if I don't like the cloth ones! Had to buy a pack to get the free changing bag from boots!
DW1978 I just got some new look vest tops today too, still don't need them but they were on offer 2 for £10 so thought I'd get them now!
I got a few cheap clothes from materlan too, couple of nighties and some loose tops in their sale, not my normal style but guess we don't have much choice now and don't want to spend a fortune!

Had to buy a pack to get the free changing bag from boots!!

I've just got my voucher through this week, can you go to any boots stores, do they have them in shops to pick up there and then? Just my local boots is quite a small one so wondering if it's worth venturing a bit further to a bigger store? xxx

Ours is a big boots, the bags are with the nappys in a box and you just take them to the till, comes up as £30! It's quite small for a changing bag but def be useful!

Our boots is a big one but the nappies were seperate to the bags, well worth it, plus they let me use the money off voucher towards the nappies too :) x x

Does anyone know if you've been a member of the Boots Parenting Club for a previous pregnancy, you can be again? I joined when I was pregnant with Lennon and the site has remembered all my old details. I updated them a few weeks ago to add Lennons DOB and now my new EDD but I haven't received anything from them, should I have had?

Very excited as I received my New Look parcel this morning so I've got some new clothes for the weekend...YAY!!

My lovely MIL bought me 3 boxes of Newborn nappies and 3 multi packs of wipes so I shouldn't be needed anything for the first few weeks/months!! LOL. I had to get one of the nappies out to have a look and I totally forgot how cute and tiny they would be!!!
