Hi all, can I tentatively come in and say hi?
I'm 5+4 with my first baby, due 4th October by NHS calculator's reckoning. Not seen my GP. I've contacted my local maternity services today to book my first appointment, so waiting to hear back from them.
It feels so early! I'm still a but reluctant to talk about it much in case anything goes wrong - we haven't told family yet, my OH would like to talk to everyone next week, but I'm starting to chicken out and want to wait till I've had a scan and it's confirmed this is actually real! Feels weird cos I normally tell my mum everything...
Along a similar line - I'm a nurse and I work with people with brain injuries who have the very real potential to hit out/ harm me in some way, and we do occasionally have to physically manage behaviours - do you think I should tell work sooner rather than later, considering this risk?! I kind of just want to stay in this bubble until 12+ weeks, but maybe that's too risky...??
Thanks for any advice, and hi to the other October mummies
WELCOME Rosie looks like we have the same EDD. October is a great month
I work part-time as a mental health worker. I told my boss as soon as I found out because keeping the secret is not worth risking the pregnancy.

Yay how exciting being EDD buddies! I'm only dated via the NHS calculator, hopefully it's about right! It feels so long away though!
Ah ok, sounds like I do need to have a word with my manager then, I certainly don't want to be put in positions that feel unsafe to the pregnancy. Even just all the manual handling/ turning patients in bed feels a bit intense though - so much to worry about!
Also think how your manager would feel if something were to happen under their watch? I'm sure they want the best for you also if you suddenly run out of a work situation because of morning sickness they would be more understaning knowing your situation. Wouldn't want to be sent home or something even when you KNOW you're not contagious.
How are your symptoms by the way? I have just today got my first bout of serious nausea
