****** October 2018 Mummies! ******

Hi all, can I tentatively come in and say hi?

I'm 5+4 with my first baby, due 4th October by NHS calculator's reckoning. Not seen my GP. I've contacted my local maternity services today to book my first appointment, so waiting to hear back from them.

It feels so early! I'm still a but reluctant to talk about it much in case anything goes wrong - we haven't told family yet, my OH would like to talk to everyone next week, but I'm starting to chicken out and want to wait till I've had a scan and it's confirmed this is actually real! Feels weird cos I normally tell my mum everything...

Along a similar line - I'm a nurse and I work with people with brain injuries who have the very real potential to hit out/ harm me in some way, and we do occasionally have to physically manage behaviours - do you think I should tell work sooner rather than later, considering this risk?! I kind of just want to stay in this bubble until 12+ weeks, but maybe that's too risky...??

Thanks for any advice, and hi to the other October mummies :-)

WELCOME Rosie :D looks like we have the same EDD. October is a great month ;)

I work part-time as a mental health worker. I told my boss as soon as I found out because keeping the secret is not worth risking the pregnancy.

Yay how exciting being EDD buddies! I'm only dated via the NHS calculator, hopefully it's about right! It feels so long away though!

Ah ok, sounds like I do need to have a word with my manager then, I certainly don't want to be put in positions that feel unsafe to the pregnancy. Even just all the manual handling/ turning patients in bed feels a bit intense though - so much to worry about!

Also think how your manager would feel if something were to happen under their watch? I'm sure they want the best for you :) also if you suddenly run out of a work situation because of morning sickness they would be more understaning knowing your situation. Wouldn't want to be sent home or something even when you KNOW you're not contagious.

How are your symptoms by the way? I have just today got my first bout of serious nausea

I’ve been feeling nautious for a little while now on and off. The last couple of days though it’s been for a lot of the day. Then this morning it was proper morning sickness :( working nights tonight, tomorrow, and Friday and I always feel a bit sick doing nights so I’m a bit worried about how this is gonna affect pregnancy symptoms. Also been quite tired this week and I’ve had a nap the last couple of days. Hopefully it’s not too bad and il feel alright. I hate feeling sick and after being sick this morning I did feel a bit better but now just feel nautious again! In a way I’m slightly pleased about having symptoms as I wasn’t really last week for a few days and that made me worried. I’m either 6 weeks exactly today or 6+6 not entirely sure as I have long cycles. I’m defintarly starting to feel a bit pregnant now but still can’t wait until have first scan and can see if everything’s ok. I also keep worrying that somethings going to go wrong and just want to be in the ‘safer’ period of pregnancy. It’s a bit bad cause I’m kind of wishing some of my life and pregnancy away thinking like that

Hi everyone

Im so excited to be here. We have just found out we are expecting and estimated the DD 10th October!! This is such a shock and surprise as we already have 3 children and this is unplanned! Im thinking of setting up a secret facebook support group page if anyone fancies making friends and sharing daily tips. My OH is just not as into my "symptoms" as i am lol! Look forward to following your pregnancy journeys xx

Don't worry Kazz1n. I'm having the same thoughts. I had a bit of a rant saying the same thing in my pregnancy journal. :(
This part of pregnancy is definitely hard.

I keep having bouts of dizziness today. I've had to sit down a couple of times as I was worried I might faint!

p.s. I hope your night shifts go okay x

Hi LouHanc. My estimated due date is the 9th! :)
What symptoms have you been getting?
I'm one of 4 girls and I loved having lots of siblings growing up.

Does any one else just feel completely nervous and worried? I’m thinking about this pregnancy 24/7 and just worrying something will go wrong. In my mind I can’t believe I have been lucky enough to fall pregnant so quickly and think their must be a catch somewhere. I’ve been wanting another baby for over 2 years now but my husband wasn’t sure and he decided I. January that he would like another too, so although we fell quickly I have longed for this for a long time.
We’ve got a scan booked for when I’m 7+2 but currently only 4+4 so got a long time to wait!

Evening Ladies, I’m tentatively joining this thread... got my bfp last night have tried with 3 more tests since and all positive. I’m just not sure what I do next! I have went ahead and booked a doctors appointment for next week. Do I calculate my due date from the date of ovulation or from my last period?

We fell second cycle trying and it was the same last time so I’m thinking the same as you that I can’t possibly be this lucky. I’m just taking it a day at a time but I’m still obsessing over it.

Massive congratulations! :D

Doctors will date you from your last period but this is often corrected at the 12 week scan where you due date might change. Not like it matters though. Babies are rarely born on their due date! My son was 2 weeks early.

Sorry if it’s tmi but what is everyone’s current cervix position?

Feel like I’ve just been googling way to much and getting myself worried incase this is a chemical

Massive congrats and welcome Hannah! Do you have any idea of what your EDD is?

Tara: Could you update EDDs on front page to include Rosie and Hannah (if they want to be included)?

I will update the DD tomorrow I have been crazy busy at work. It’s so nice that we have a growing group now and it’s lovely to know we are all have the same crazy feelings.

I got my midwife letter and my scan self referral I can’t wait for the 12 week scan so that my mind can be at ease. I’m panicking at everything I’m trying to now only put positivity into the universe and just keep positive that my pregnancy will go well
