~~October 2015 mummies and babies~~

I really have had no luck with my delivery... MW has been today and my stiches went leaving an infected gap down below! I am now back in the hospital waiting to be examined and to see whether antybiotics can take care of it or will I have to be re-stitched

Ouch Michelle
Not good
Is Callum dling better at least?

Awk Barb:(
Sorry recovery is slow
Did they say anything about if it was healing well etc and can you not take more to help painwise?
Can anyone help more to give you some rest? X

I am on tons of medication for blood clots, blood pressure and have three different pain killers. It helps to a certain extent but I am sore still and black and blue.

Its healing well but looks horrendous. I think it will always look pretty bad.

I have my mum but I have my toddler who is scared that I will disappear back to hospital any minute so I am having to give him a lot of my time. Night times my husband would help but work is very stressful for him and he needs the sleep.

How was the hospital? Last thing you need right now.

Karolina sorry to hear about your wound breaking down. It will recover down there. This first few weeks is so hard. I was in bits the first 10 days and at the hospital every day for something or other. It gets better.

Barbara, I'm still only doing fragmin so you're doing amazing with all that medication. Again, eye on the prize, not for long now. I have 2 weeks and 2 days left

We're ok, just tired. Jess been really poorly, and Xander is miserable with cold. Feels like we are turning the corner now though. Hubby back to work on monday
I had a horrible migraine yesterday but thankfully got on top of it quickly with aspirin :-)

Oh GM, hope you recover soon, sounds like you are taking loads of meds to help tho. It will hopefully get better real soon x

I was sent home with nothing. The doc confirmed there was a gaping hole down there but no infection so they would like for it to heal on its own. I don't know how I feel about it x

Fliss, hope LOs get better soon. Can't imagine dealing with a misereable newborn right now. Also not looking forward to hubby going back to work next saturday :-( x

grrrr argggggg!!!! Midwife called about his heel prick test and they have concerns about his thyroid so he needs more tests. Anyone have.any experience of congenital hypothyroidism?

Dunno about the congenital part but im hypothyroid and its poo x

George's mum that's poo about the hypothyroidism, what does it mean for baby will have to go on medication? KHTW hang in there the wound will heal, 2 weeks in & I have to say my stitches feel loads better. OH & I are also arguing over who is most tired, though I think what with doing all of the feeds & not getting more than 2/3 hrs in a row I win! Hubbie has been a great help & has been getting up with our toddler while he has been off, so I can get some extra zzzz in the mornings, dreading him going back to work on Wed. Thankfully my mum has arrived over to help as otherwise I've no idea how I would manage.
Also Cillian has gotten these hard lumps under his nipples, I think they are milk buds!? I'm not sure as I don't remember Aoife getting them, they look sore & uncomfortable, going to ask MW today about them?
Also having trouble getting wind out of Cillian after a feed, anyone any good tricks?

Could it be he just doesn't need winding?
BF babies tend not to take in much air
HV or midwife said sit them more or less upright. If nothing in a minute or 2 just put them back on the boob

No idea about the little hard lumps
Never heard of it x

I googled the lumps
Its called witches milk. Just as you said. Your hormones are passing through the breastmilk and its just milk secreting ducts
Just dont squeeze them etc lol
Its fine so long as they dont get red or tender etc x

There was an abnormality on Xanders too, but follow up testing was normal. Hope its the same for you.

Shona, try you tube for the winding tricks, I picked up this really good rolling movement that does it every time!! Also resting him over my knee on his tummy for a trapped one.

Gail, Xander is pretty much all boob now and burps like a truck driver

Ello ladies! I've found you all! Nice to see us all moving over from Tri3.

Callum got weighed today & he's now 8lb 15oz which is great, however we have to go to docs this afternoon as HV thinks he may have an umbilical hernia, poor wee mite not getting a break. She also thinks I have mastitis, happy days :(

How's everyone else? Karolina the stitches are hard going, they ended up releasing me on co-dydramol due to the pain, 3 weeks down the line the pains not so bad anymore.

These wee October babies are causing trouble, hope you're all well xx

Infacol is great for wind - you give a little dropper every feed and it leads to great burps and trumps :) takes a couple of days to build up. I also like the method of sitting baby on your knee, supporting head under the chin and tapping his/her back. Works for us - and it makes comedy faces on baby! Lol!

People always told me bf babies don't get wind, but this hasn't been my experience with either of my girls - maybe I just have windy babies! Lol x

There should be 2 or 3 new mummies moving here from Tri 3 now!!! Exciting :)

My stitches are doing better now, still don't 'feel' the same down there and I think I may be left with an ugly scar but at least I can sit down now...

Nina is now over her birth weight and her jaundice is gone as well.

Daddy is back to work tomorrow and I have to say I am stressing a bit about doing it all on my own incl. getting up at night to feed and change the little screamer!

I am also happy to say that I have mastered a non-peeing-myslef changing technique. Nina hasn't peed on her clothes since! :D

Hows everyone else doing?? xx

Doing ok! Still exhausted but that's to be expected. Hubbie went back to work on wed & it's been tough even with my mum staying to help me out for a little bit! Stitches are much better. Cillian is not cluster feeding as much, & is burping lots after feeds. His little moobs have gone down too which is good too. Cillian is pilling on the weight & my boobs are not as sore either. How are all other new mums?

Phew, just updated the last week of October babies. Cover sheet looks pretty full now :)

Glad to hear you ladies are sitting more comfortably. Karolina, it took about a year for me to feel "normal" down there after stitches last time, can't believe how different it is this time with none.

We are getting in a stride now. I am cunningly planning non-Jess-nursery days so that someone else is around for at least half the day which means its less stressful and better for Jess as it is hard on her when I am preoccupied with baby. Using my extra pairs of hands to cuddle Xander whilst I do some stuff with her, even if its read some books or do a puzzle together.

My birthday on Thursday which I am strangely excited about this year, can't tell you why! Maybe because I plan on having a lunchtime cocktail ... my parents and hubby are taking me out to lunch with the kids, not just going to get pissed at home on my own!

Xander is consistent with 2 feeds at 1 and 5, now 12 and 4 of course, but it is doable.

Jess has picked now as her moment to drop her daytime nap, but its making her sleep longer at night, so again, coping with it ok.

Did giving birth make you ladies feel like youd done a triathlon the next day?
I'm progressively stiffening up and getting sore all over!!

Gosh Mrs! I felt EXHAUSTED after and very, very sore down below for the next week. Hope your recovery will be much quicker! How is little one? How are you finding being a mummy? x

Its all my muscles
Even neck legs etc

Its lovely but im so tired
Hes screaming when put down
Didnt think cluster feeding started so early
