Nuchal scan today at 1.30pm so nervous

Hey Sunny - can't believe your 12-week scan has been & gone already!
Hope it went well for you sweet x

First of all, I am soooo sorry I didn't get back on here until now to let you all know! And thank you, lovely Samsgirl, for letting everyone know :hugs:

The scan was awesome! They don't say much when they're doing all the measurements so it's a bit nerve-wracking with all the silence! But all was fine and there's a very low risk of Down's (1 in 7000!), and I got put back a few days but that actually tallies with my late OV (I was 5 days late haha!) and we heard the very strong heartbeat :yay:

Baby was flipping around and gave a little wave awww! It had a big stretch, which was just unbelievably cute! And looked like it had a little swim, too. Bless so much! I am even more in love now awww!!!!

Thank you to everyone for all your lovely comments xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Congratulation hunny :) im so pleased for you that everything went well and baby sunny gave you a wave x x

oh great news!! Congratulations :) You must feel so happy now.

could I ask a question? You said you could find out the results straight away because you had the blood tests done in advance. Why was that and when did you have them?

My midwife did 3 blood tests on my first appointment, but I thought they are for infections. Is there a chance that I had the nuchal blood test done as well or is it something very different?

Great news, I'm glad everything went ok for you today x

Wondering the same thing as I have my nuchal scan on 20th April. I had loads of bloods done with midwife last week, would she have taken blood for this? X

Sometimes if baby is moving too much they can't get the nuchal measurements.....so they have to do a blood test instead xx

I got told on friday that liverpool womens do both the scan and the blood tests and combine the results so this might be what happened in your case hunny x x

Ooh I never knew that :) where I live we get the cubs screening, but I've got to get the bloods cause my bubs wouldn't stay still....lol xx

I believe it says in my book that they use the combination of both. I guess if they can't do the measurement they might try to use only the blood test results, but if they can, they'll use both.

Aw massive congrats again SG - I'm so so pleased for you :) x

Glad it all went so well! :yay: I can't believe you're 12 weeks already!! x

The bloods that the midwife took from me the week before were for STIs and STDs and sickle cell, rhesus -ve etc. The ones at the nuchal scan go in combo with the measurement to calculate your risk of Down's. That's my understanding of it!
I am still head over heels in love with my little wriggly swimmy baby!!

xxx

Congratulations Sunny!!
The blood tests combined with the measurements give you the risk percentage. (That's what the dr told me).

Fab news sweetheart; isn't it amazing to see them in there all wriggly and cute?

Saw my little kicker for the third time and it just gets better and better :) x
