Cute cake ideas guys! Nice and simple too

We're keeping the sex a surprise from most people once we find out. We're only going to tell very close family members and we'll just tell them over Zoom or something. We have a few trans friends so the idea of announcing a 'gender' (instead of sex which is the biological term as gender is a social construct*) by throwing a big party never really sat right with us.
Obviously other people can do whatever they choose as it's their baby, please don't feel like I'm knocking your decisions as I actually don't mind the simple cake idea, especially now as families are being kept apart. It's so important to have things to celebrate

It's more the massive celebrations that make me uncomfortable and I think even the founder of the parties has said she has now changed her stance on them. One of D's best friends threw a huge sex reveal party at their flat and invited everyone they knew but we made up excuses not to go.
Hopefully I've explained myself well enough!
We had our 16 week appointment. D was allowed to come in with me (which I wasn't expecting) though we had to wear masks. And we got to hear the heartbeat! It was amazing and sounded like a galloping horse! The midwife seemed really happy and said everything seems perfect

I also learnt that my placenta is on the right.
Also
@EmilyMaria I can't believe your scan is tomorrow! :O
*Though I suppose the term 'gender reveal party' was originally coined because 'sex reveal party' sounds... odd? Lol.
