November 2017 mummies!

Does anyone have any series reccomendations? I’ve found a good series and podcasts help with the night feeds. I’ve been watching Josh on iPlayer but dunno what to watch after that. Also Dirty Mother Pukka podcasts are a godsend when I’m super sleepy, the giggles keep me awake!

Have you watched Stranger Things? We just finished that & it was brill. X

How is everyone?

Hunter is 5 weeks now. He's settled himself into a little routine, sleeps from 8-8 with 2 get ups at 2 & 5. His "colic" was actually just him wanting to go bed.

Ewan the dream sheep has been amazing for us & Hunter is so good at self soothing.

Hope everyone is well! X

Austin will be 4 weeks on Monday. We don’t have a routine but he’s normally up twice in the night. We normally all go up to bed together after his last feed around 11ish usually. He went five hours last night though but probably because he didn’t go to sleep til an hour before he was due a feed at 2 and he woke up at 4! Felt like we had a good sleep as his next one wasn’t til after 7 when we normally get up but we managed to get back to sleep while it was still dark :)

My husband was out for his Christmas party last night so it was our first night going to bed on our own. I’m gunna leave him to it today, since he’s got out of bed he’s been asleep on the couch every time I’ve been and checked! Xx

Hello! Hope you’re all doing well.
My little one seems to be having trouble pooping. It seems tonreally hurt when he’s pushing. We did have a shitsplosion this morning which required a bath to clean up, but nothing since then, just the odd fart. Every few hours he tries to push but when I go to change him, nothing but pee.

Cati we've had this problem. LO only poos every 2-3 days. He used to always seem to struggle as if constipated but once he pooed it was soft so it's not constipation.

HV suggested cycling the legs and rubbing his tummy. Or if it is constipation a little bit of cool boiled water. I remember my daughter never pooed for around a week, she always struggled so we gave her the tiniest bit of orange with water. Can't remember if it helped though, long time ago! Lol

My OH had his vasectomy yesterday afternoon so has been in quite a bit of pain but bless him he's still been doing his part. Mind you whenever he mentions the pain I let him know I was ripped open and stitched back up again. TWICE!!

Belly rubbing does soothe him, and sets off lots of farts! He loves cycle legs too, it sends him off to sleep!

We’ve had such a bad night here. Is colic basically constant crying? If it is, we’ve got it! I managed to sleep from 02-03:30 then 05:30-07  :wall2: xx

What time is the crying episode? We discovered our 'colic' was actually just LO wanting to go up to bed. (Our room nice and dark) Honestly he cried from like 7-10 but now we put him to bed at 7 and he sleeps.

LO developed a red bumpy rash all over his face neck and chest. He's also started spitting up feeds. We're thinking a possible milk allergy :( currently waiting for doctor to call us. X

We don’t go up to bed until after his last feed around 11pm so it’s not the time. It was what must have been every five minutes on and off all night! We have to cuddle him til he’s mostly asleep and then put him down or he cries because he wants to be held. I wish he was crying because he WANTS to go to bed haha xx

Do you put him down in the dark though? Our lo would scream in his basket downstairs but once i put him upstairs in the dark with his sheep he settled. I would never have thought he'd have settled that way but he did. Worth a try putting him up in the dark. I think there's too much stimulation downstairs with sounds and lights & TVs etc. X

Have you tried playing the same music when he settles?
I had difficulty changing nappies for a bit, a huge pain when he kicks nappies away and then wees everywhere. But now every time I change him and he starts to freak out, I sing the same song and it calms him down. It’s also the same song I sang to bump. Dunno if it’s a coincidence but it does the trick!

Here I am again with possible retained placenta. :( Waiting on a scan, still bleeding heavily after almost 6 weeks. Threw up all last night, body is aching. Can't believe I have to WAIT for an emergency scan... :(

Oh no :( That sounds awful. How long will you have to wait?

I had an episiotomy when I gave birth and I think it’s either infected or the stitches dissolved too quickly for it to heal. Normal bleeding stopped for me a week or so ago, but it’s back now and I think it’s from the wound. I can’t stand up for more than a minute without it aching really really bad. Waiting to hear back from my doctor as to where I should be seen...

Yes we always put him down in the dark and we have Ewan the dream sheep that stays in his bedside cot. He has a dummy that we give him if he needs settling. Sometimes though he just Will not settle.

Last night was great though, I finished sterilising his bottles while my husband took him upstairs to settle him and hopefully into bed while I locked up downstairs. Went up to bed and they we both asleep, I was buzzing! Then he was up at 2 and 5, then a little longer and around 8:45 this morning. So it went well!

However... Monday night was awful. An hour and a half after going up to bed he was still awake chewing himself, crying on and off. It got to the point where I had to wake my husband up (which I don’t like to on a work night) as it was half hour before his next feed was due and I still hadn’t even got to lie down yet.

Hoping for another good night tonight... xx

Hope you get a good night April!

We had a bad night last night as LO was pretty much awake from his 3-4 feed until we got up.

I'm not sure, doctor said not too long because it is urgent, but I'll get a letter. I'm bleeding VERY heavily at the moment.

OH is away and LO has been awake since 8, he's just chilling in bed but isn't asleep. His routine has been off as he didn't get home until 6pm and slept until 8. Usually he's up from 5:30-6:00 until 7:00ish.

Gonna feed & change and hopefully that'll be him until OH is home! X

Hello! Hope you’re all doing well!

How are christmas preps going for you? Excited for baby’s first christmas? :D

I know this sounds awful but I've been worrying about Christmas and how LO is going to affect our 3yo's first proper Christmas. I'm thinking I'm not going to be 100% there as LO is going to need fed/changed etc BUT! I'm sure I'm just worrying over nothing. We've decided to wake baby up at 6:30, change & feed him, then get our daughter up so hopefully he'll be settled for a while. Then he goes for a nap. Other than that I'm super excited, like I say our daughter is really into it all this year, so cannot wait to see her face Christmas morning. We've finished our shopping, built the dollhouse and the toy kitchen, everything's wrapped and ready to go! X

I’m sure you’ll all have a wonderful time! She’ll probably be more interested in the gifts than her sibling.

My LO is five weeks old tomorrow. It’s crazy how much he’s grown in that time!

I’m going to attempt to make some gingerbread men today, if I can!

I haven't baked at all this Christmas which is unusual.

Our LO got measured at 6 weeks and was 60cm! He's so tall! He was 7 weeks yesterday and finally in a kind of routine. X
