My parents have just finished their IVA. At least I think that's what it's called.
They got help from a company who contacted all of their creditors. The interest was frozen on all of their debts. They then had to provide details of all income and the company advised how much they had to pay and it only left them with a very small amount to live on. They struggled by for seven years and got a note in March telling them they are debt free.
Its been a hard slog. Bankruptcy might have been easier but my Dad refused as he wanted to pay back everything they had borrowed. And now they have.
Good luck with it all. Its no fun but my parents felt less stressed when it was sorted and they were making progress towards paying it off rather than drowning in interest.
