So I've decided to shift a stone in weight asap. But I'm worried about how it might affect TTC especially in the 2WW. I want to get back to looking like I did in my avatar.

Planning on using extreme diet and extreme exercise.

Any thoughts?

I'd say anything extreme tends to be not very good for you... Why not go for regular, moderate exercise and a healthier diet? :hugs:

I've been told same thing - everything in moderation. When I was ttc last time I was exercising to extreme and although managed to get BFP it resulted in MMC. Not saying this was cause as my body was totally used to what it was being put through but this time I am not taking any chances and have cut down the exercise. As for diet I say moderation also cos you need to make sure you get all essential nutrients into body. xxx

I am definately not an expert at all but what i've read suggests that any weight loss shoudl be done before conception and that lack of nutrients does play a part in some early miscarriages so I guess you have to decide if its worth the risk. Maybe if you really want to lose the weight quickly stop ttc for a couple of months or just concentrate on eating healthily and you can lose extra weight after you have had your lovely healthy baby.

Mmm, all very good advice. I will do more moderation not so extreme. But I'll never manage it when I'm pregnant, so it has to be before. I dont want to wait to concieve but if I dont do it now I'll never manage it after! And having tried for 2 years already I'm not holding my breath it will happen quickly....

No one else dieting as well as ttc?

I am trying to lose weight, although i'm failing at the moment, when i do get started - it will be fairly extreme :oooo:

I feel that as long as you are meeting a minimum calorie allowance from unprocessed lean and green foods, are taking a wide spectrum supplement and are drink plenty of water that it won't effect conception.

I'm supposed to be starting tomorrow.

I mean... i AM starting tomorrow!

My plan is to basically not eat unless my body is actually suffering hunger pains for 30 mins. I tend to eat way too much food when i'm not even hungry.

When i did this last time i was probably consuming about 800 calories each day (excluding veg, fruit and skimmed milk which i had unlimited) for about 3 months and i dropped 2 stone.

My period didn't change at all and if i'd stopped ovualting or anything then it would have.

I never went below the middle of healthy for my BMI and ofcourse if you are exercising that you need to eat what you burn.

OK - maybe not the most sensible advice ever, but i will be doing it myself so can't say fairer than that :)

hi starfish, i'm dieting and ttc! over the end of 2010 and the new year i was on steroids and my weight shot up so im trying to shift a stone too. funnily enough, the reason i want to lose it is because weight gain can cause problems with ttc, they say that you are less likely to conceive if you are overweight!?

i'm a bit like louiseb - a little extreme and wont' consume more than about 800-1000 calories per day, its hard but has to be done :( i'm doing it by diet as i get paranoid about ttc and suddenly taking up a gym routine 'just in case!'

I am on weight watchers pro points at minute. Started back last Tuesday. Did really well all week and fell off wagon at weekend. Back on wagon now. I have half stone to lose. :-)

I'm supposed to be starting tomorrow.

I mean... i AM starting tomorrow!

Yeah Yeah Yeah!!!!!!;) x

Hi Starfish, i am also trying to lose some weight but not doing too well! I am trying to do it the healthy way and would like to go swimming aswell but not got there yet! Just like Louise, will start today!:) xxx

Extreme diet is BAD in every single way along with extreme exercise. Not only is is bad for your body but its not a long term solution, its a quick fix. Im currently on Weight Watchers Pro Points and Ive lost 13lb in 5 weeks by eating healthy and using my Wii Fit along with walking. I can eat cake, chocolate, crisps, take out, booze and excellent meals and it still works as long as you stick within the points. I have 3 stone to lose so its long haul but everyone I know whos been on it has lost.
Good Luck with things hun :)

I would definitely avoid the extreme dietting/ exercise. During the 2WW I definitely think you should just eat healthy (follow a plan such as Slimming World, as in theory thats all Slimming World is) and relax with the dietting. You should still lose weight. Then, if you do have AF, go back to to your other diet and exercise routine up until ovulation.
You only want to lose a stone and that could be achieved without extreme measures. Through healthy eating, cutting out the crap/ junk food, you could still lose weight in the first trimester, even though it is recommended you dont diet. My 'normal' diet is so full of junk that when I am pregnant, I do lose some weight due to how healthy my diet becomes.
A stone isnt much in the greater scheme of things, I'm trying to lose the same amount, but just by cutting out the rubbishy foods and having more filling meals, snacking on fruit.
Look after yourself as one day some magic could be going on in that tummy of yours, and babies need calories! x

i agree with the girls.. extreme dieting/exercising isnt a good idea. xxx

LOl, Louise, the diet always starts tomorrow!

I couldnt only exercise in the gap between AF and Ovulation as its only just over a week per month. Thats not going to achieve anything.

I have tried Weight Watchers and Slimming World and one we have here called 'Welsh Weigh', and been quite commited, i don't eat any junk food anyway but I do drink a lot of wine which is quite fattening. And uses up all my points! Sigh..... I just thought like Louise I would try 'going hungry a bit' plus jogging every day (Mummy2Adam was training for marathon and still got a BFP and I'm not even nearly fit enough to run like that).

But yes, I do worry about the 2WW, which is why I posted this, its nice to know some of you are trying too. Spinney, swimming is a great idea, just need to find the time to get there etc.

What are your thoughts about cutting carbs and meat?

Why would you want to cut anything out of your diet? A varied, low fat, healthy eating plan is best for anyone. You can still have treats but in moderation and losing 1-2lb a week is recommended.
