January 2017 mummies! **2nd Trimester.**

Oh Abi that's so sweet :) it's lovely getting everything all ready.. Major kudos to you if you continue with the babygrow ironing once baby is here haha!

We swaddled Sarah which kept her lovely and warm, I know they worry about overheating so yes they recommend layers of very thin blankets that can be removed as opposed to one thicker one. I rarely used anything on top of the swaddling blanket though as they stay so snuggly.. We also had a room thermometer for peace of mind that our room was the right temp.. When they're big enough I loved the baby sleeping bags, they are excellent for kicky legs!!

Yesterday & today I felt as if air was popping or food was bubbling under my skin onto my hand, is that the babies or my intestines? It was after eating and felt familiar but I didn't think my intestines were that near the surface any more. I've had a look at diagrams but none the wiser!

I think it could be either Blueflower.. I've definitely felt digestive rumbles when trying to feel for baby so I think it's still possible! Could certainly be the babies though :)

Whooping cough vaccine - everyone having it? Anything negative to say?

I reckon that's it Hun, mine move more Ayer I've eaten & especially if I have an ice lolly that makes them wriggle too X

I'll be having the vaccine Kate, it's from 28 weeks isn't it? I'll also be having all the jabs for the babies too X

Thanks lovely :) My midwife said to book in any time after 20 weeks.. Hmmm.. Maybe i'll hold off for a bit! My gut instinct was have it, flu one too.. Poppy had all the routine vaccinations but there's always a coupleof people out there who make you feel awful for doing so..

Ah ok, I'm not 100% sure that was just at my booking appt. as I'm consultant led I don't have a midwife X
I'm not sure if I'll have flu jab, my work always wants us to have it but even tho it's not a live vaccine it always makes me feel ill! People really do don't they ! I'd rather take the precaution as measles and mumps are coming back because people have stopped having the vaccine and all the report produced about the links was actually discredited as it have no evidence to support any of it. X

Yes, I plan to vaccinate my little one too. I'm not sure about the so called evidence concerning the harm of vaccines. I think they are safe. :)

Ahh yes of course.. I'll have to check with her, definitely could have made that up!

I know, they make scientific sense to me.. As you say these illnesses are making a comeback and i'd feel truly awful if baby got something I chose not to vaccinate them against..

I'm having it. I've looked up pros and cons for it all. As my oh is asthmatic (sp?) I just don't want to risk not having the jab as baby will be more prone to it if he gets daddy's silly lungs lol.

Also having flu jab which is a bit against my will as I think the cons are awful but as oh has it every year he has asked I do for the sake of baby xxxxx

When it comes to babies vaccinations, I agree with Sarah. All that the MMR jab protects is actually coming back because so many people have avoided it. There is such a small amount of cases that have possibly been linked to autism but tbh, I'd rather have an autistic child than one who isn't here any more because of my choice :/ sorry to sound blunt! xxxx

Abi, I agree with you completely. Penn and Teller did a video that illustrates it brutally but efficiently. They put up two populations of "children", then they drag the "shield of vaccine" in front of one. It knocks one kid out of place, ie he gets autism. And then they proceed to throw balls at the two groups. All the ones knocked over die from measles.

Just ignore the people who are against vaccines or share that video every time they say something.

What are the cons you know of against the flu jab Abi? So hard to find decent evidence which is the most frustrating thing about it.. You either get a load of opinionated waffle from one side of the argument or the other :(

This is only what I've read but you are more likely to go into hospital due to flu jab side effects than you are with the actual flu. It can really weaken your immune system of taken regularly (every year as 'advised') and a close friend was told her granddads dementia was linked to his years of flu jabs.

Hence why that's the one jab in really put off by but for the sake of baby not being risked and OH I've given in for it this year flu will effect then far worse if I get it than me most likely . xxxxx

That's very interesting to know Abi! I've never gotten a flu shot and I've only had the flu like once in my life in my 20's. I kid you not. I heard someone say flu shots weaken your immune system, and since I never get the flu anyway, I always decided to not get the shot. I rarely get a cold either because I'm kind of a germa phobe always using hand sanitizer, washing my hands a lot, trying not to touch my face in public, immediately taking off all clothes and shoes as soon as I enter the house especially after being in a public place and especially after being in a clinic for an appointment. Stuff like that. I was thinking of getting the flu shot now for the sake of the baby but since I've never even had a flu shot I don't even know how my body would handle it let alone getting it while pregnant. So I was really wondering about the flu shot since I never get sick anyway, but also I have someone other than me to think about so I was wondering what was best. That's scary about dementia being linked to flu shots!

Thank you sweet.. It is scary. I decided not to make Poppy have her flu jab last year after a lot of deliberating.. I never get ill either but it'd just be sod's law wouldn't it.. Plus our immune systems are naturally weakened through being pregnant in the first place.. Oooph, i'll chat to my midwife and hope that she's straight up honest with me! xxx

Hi ladies.. I was wondering if anyone has bought a bump support? Is it any good? The back pain has kicked in majorly and I sometimes really struggle to walk. Anyone else? Still prefer this to nausea though so I'm not complaining too much!

Bump attached. Feel like it's growing very rapidly now!

Worked this time :D
