January 2017 mummies! **2nd Trimester.**

kate- I know you were worried about your downs risk after your NT measurement. Did you get result or have I missed it? Like you my result risk in last pregnancy was 1 in 100,000, this time it's much lower at 1 in 3000 which I know is still low but I'm a worrier and it's so different to my risk last time.

Booked a cheeky gender scan this Saturday so my partner can come with me! Beyond excited and I'm surprising him tonight with it! I know I said I wouldn't but I can wait any longer, I need cheering up and I hope knowing the sex will help me bond better with bump as I've been very low about it all recently xxxx

That's lovely. Very exciting! Do you have a feeling of what you are having? a low/high PAPP score is suppose to be an indication of gender I found out recently.

Is it? In what way? We think it's a boy - no idea why xxx

I think it's that girls tend to have higher PAPP levels. No ideas as to how accurate this is but apparently a study found this to be true.

I'm pretty clued up on the nub theory if anyone wants me to have a look at their 12 week scan.

Here is one of mine xxz

12 weeks how many days? I'm not 100% the nub isn't visible in the first picture and I'm not certain I can see it in first. It looks life if what I'm seeing is the nub but they are not showing a clear nub I'm afraid. xx

Ahh thanks for asking Princess P.. I managed to get hold of them whilst I was on holiday and thankfully all was low risk - 1:30,000 for down's and 1:100,000 for Edward's. Just goes to show that even with a higher NT measurement you shouldn't panic.. It's called the combined test for a reason I suppose! You're still very low risk but I know it's hard not to compare one to the other, my odds with my daughter were ridiculous, something like 1:900,000! I also feel embarrassed about my bump, I feel like I always have to justify it by saying it's mostly bloating! Why are people so judgemental, we should just be able to enjoy it!! I've only gained 3lbs since the start which I am stunned by so I know i'm not going too nuts on the food front!!

On another note ladies i'm getting some really uncomfortable pains and noticing some tightenings every now and then.. Surely braxton hicks don't come this early? I hope it's nothing sinister.. I have a midwife appt tomorrow so will ask her.. xx

That's so exciting Abi! Hope it gives you a little pick me up :) Can't wait to hear what you're having xx

Glad to see you risk factors came back fine. I've been having similar pains today, to the point the pain made me feel sick. Settle with a bath and a bit of food but like you I have the midwife tomorrow ... Felt bad if I called today so hopefully she can shed some light. So excited for Saturday now :D xxxxxx

They were exactly 12 weeks xxx

I'm feeling a bit sad after reading the last few posts today. I have no bump yet and no hope of feeling any movement for probably another two months as I recently checked my 12 week scan notes and discovered I have an anterior placenta. It just doesn't feel at all like there's a baby in there :-( xx

Hi Mummylumps! Oh Holdingthumbs i'm so sorry - we're moaning about our bumps, I didn't even consider how it'd feel on the other side of things.. It's still early to have a bump, you are going to have one of these lovely, neat bumps that i'm always so jealous of! That's a bit rubbish but at least you've found that on your notes so you won't be worrying about no movements.. I forget sometimes too - I keep my scan picture and pregnancy tests laying around and smile whenever I see them :) xx

Apparently Braxton-Hicks can start already in the first trimester, so that can very well be what you're feeling Kate. It can also be growth pain from the uterus stretching, or round ligament pain from the join in the front of the pelvis, something I've discovered the joys of today.

Holdingthumbs, I know what you mean. I have a little bump, but it's really mostly my usually fat tummy having moved upwards. I really long for having a proper bump, for when people seeing you can immediately tell that you are pregnant and not just fat.
