****** January 2015 mummy's to be ******

Hi all. I've had a bit more spotting today. It's not a lot and it's a light brown colour. I told my doctor in case and she suggested I go to epu tomorrow morning. Are that likely to find a heartbeat at 6 weeks?

I think they're doing that aswell. The perfusion scan is over now, they gave me half the dose and it has a halflife of 6 hours. Hope all this concern about a blood clot is unjustified, I nearly didn't even bother contacting a dr inthe first place!

Earliest I know someone seeing the HB was 5w 5d - and she had a due date baby so she wasn't "ahead"

However I decided to wait until 7 weeks as if the HB is there you are very highly likely to see it by that point.

You stand a very good chance of seeing a HB, although depends on how sure of your dates you are and there is always a chance of late implantation so nothing is guaranteed.

Glad it's all done and it's good you are being taken seriously, best to rule things out and test for worst case scenario?

Last two mornings I've really struggled with nausea, have got a secret stash of ginger nut biscuits hidden in my drawer at work and have been alternating between dry heaving and trying to get those down, praying no one comes into my room at the wrong moment! Nearly had to leave the room mid-consultation with a patient this morning due to a wave of nausea. The next few weeks are going to be interesting....

I'd got to the point where I was being sick 3+ times a day last week, particularly after I'd eaten. I bought some anti nausea wrist bands and haven't been sick now for 4 days. They're cheap so worth a go.

Had my booking in appt with the midwife yesterday and she was lovely. She has given me the go-ahead for a home birth (all being well with the pregnancy, baby presentation etc) which is fab news.

Scan on saturday and can't wait now.

Good luck at the EPU today princess, hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

I'm too much of a chicken for a home birth (plus we have cream carpets through out apart from kitchen and bathroom - I know!!!)

I def want the birthing centre his time, I started there with James but got moved as I needed the drip.

I am a bit worried as my BMI might be on the cusp of being too high for the birthing centre  they have a limit to use the BC at my chosen hospital... I will kick up a stink if they refuse. The other local hospital doesn't have a BMI limit? I might transfer lol.

(I wont as I need to be at my hospital as it is much more convenient for work)

I have my scan tomorrow at 5.30pm, excited but nervous.

My scan went well. They said the sac looked good, there was no blood around it and I saw the heartbeat. They dated me as 6 weeks 6 days which is exactly what I thought.

Thank you for all your support. It was amazing seeing the heartbeat. Can't wait for my scan in a few weeks so I can start telling everyone.

Fab news princess :)

Nat, I had midwife unit with my son, but like you, had to move downstairs to the hospital part for the final 30 mins to go on the drip as the water slowed my contractions right down. If home-birth doesn't go ahead then we will definitely be using the midwife unit again (obvs barring any complications etc) as it was such a lovely experience. Hopefully you won't have any issues with them letting you use it. Good luck with the scan tomorrow too :)

My midwife has just rang to say I am borderline anaemic so need to go on iron tablets, booooo. I had this last time too so it was expected but I hate iron tablets. They make me constipated and make your poo turn grey/black . I'm impressed at the speed though, I only had the blood taken 25 hours ago! Hopefully this will explain why I have been feeling really quite rough for the last week or so.

Hi Chellie
