If u have had IVF can u advise if u would reccomend if I would need to take time of work or if it is something I can do around work.

Obviously I would take time of for appointments.

My manager is very nosey and not very suttle so I would rather she didn't know.

What would anyone who's been through the process reccomend?

Xx

I had my introductory meeting and during the presentation the recommend that you take a week off during egg collection and implantation, during egg collection you will be under a general so would need at least 24 hours off after this anyway

When you going ahead with it?

I think it really depends on you.

Not working will not improve your chances of success unless you work in an extremely physical or hazardous environment.

You will need to have the day of egg collection off and possibly the day after just to allow healing but you won't really be able to book that off in advance anyway as you won't know when it's going to happen until 2-3 days before - you might be better just claiming it off as sick at the last minute.

You could claim a couple of week holidays from around when EC should hopefully be but like i said, when it'll happen is a bit in the air, especially on your first cycle.

As long as you haven't already told anyone at work, then you should be able to tell your boss as long as a confidentiality agreement is in place.

This is helpful as I get ten days paid leave through my work for fertility. :) thanks

I was told I needed the day of egg collection and half a day for transfer off. It wasn't enough. I had mild OHSS and I was really poorly and I shouldn't have gone back so soon. Will book at least 3 days off next time to recover better.

Also had a few late mornings for scans but had we been more keen to keep it quiet we could have had them very early and got to work normal time (we didn't fancy getting the train at 5am as we're 2 hours from the hospital)

A lot of it will depend on how you respond
