We were kept in for 2 nights, Odhrán had a slight temperature, I was desperate to go home.. He was born at 1.40am, the MW came in at 7am and before she even said hello I asked could I go home lol I would pack plenty of everything, especially pants and pj bottoms, I never realized how many I would actually need, and pads x
thank you for all your replies ladies! I guess it is better to overpack than underpack...although we are lucky in that we don't live far from hospital so someone could always pop home for me to get more supplies if needed. Think I will allow for 3 days worth of clothes etc to be on the safe side x x x
I was in for 5 days before i had lo, but then was allowed home and then two half weeks after LO was born, he was prem so had to stay in for him xxxxxxx
Bella2 I was so sure I'd gone completely overboard with my packing and overpacked like mad, but ended up using pretty much everything I had packed! I went into hospital on thursday morning and went home on the saturday night, after pretty much begging them to let me go (they wanted to keep me in for at least another day because of my tear and LO's blood sugars, which thankfully stabilised on the saturday afternoon so I could go ) xx
With Matthew i was in for 3 days, when i had Luke i would have been home the same day as he was born at 8.30am but his temperature was low so i wasnt allowed out till the next day
X
I had Sam @ 00.01 on Wednesday and was discharged @ 2pm that day. He was my first, I had a 3rd degree tear and no sleep. Wish I'd made them keep me in for 1 more night.
Take into account possible induction when you're packing your bags!
When I had my 1st it was standard procedure in that hospital to keep 1st time mums in for at least 2 nights, not sure what the procedure is now, i'd say its uncommon to go home that day with the 1st.
I gave birth at night and was out by the following afternoon. I would have been out in the morning but we had to wait for a doctor to discharge Lucas. xx
I was in for for just one night although I reckon I could have gone the same night if I was insistent - I wish I had gone home tbh as the hospital was so bloody busy, they put Brooke & I in a side room about 2.00am and we didn't see a soul until 7.00am the next morning. Luckily I had a bit of a clue as to what I was doing so she fed really well and I winded, changed her just fine but IMO being left alone with a brand new baby for 5 hours is ridiculous.
I packed 3 bags of stuff and used hardly anything - I had Brooke so fast though I didn't even have a chance to change into my nightie But I think it's better to be prepared just in case x
i dont want to stay in so im hoping if alls well we can go home a few hours after, i heard that you have to stay in at least 6 hours after birth but if alls well can go home after that x
