How long for 1st ivf app

Hi guys. How long did people have to wait for their first appointment for ivf to come through after referral?

My consultant referred me on 28th November, I got a letter from the IVF clinic today saying they are sending me a questionnaire to fill in, if I haven't received it in three weeks I need to ring them. I don't actually know when my first appointment with them will be xx

It's been 3 weeks now and all I've had is a copy of the letter they have sent to the hospital I chose referring me. I doubt I'll here anything before Xmas now.

I was referred on 14th Nov, received my first appointment through the post on 22nd. My appointment is on 8th Jan. Received the questionnaire through the post last week. Mine is 4 pages long and OH is one page!! Grrr! Lol x Hope your not waiting long x

I think it really depends on your hospital.

The dr referral to IVF took a few months (referred in November, saw them in about Feb or so?)

But once I got approved I was able to start IVF on my next cycle, although because the # days in the cycle was getting erratic they delayed it by 1 to give me the pill for 1 cycle to regulate it.

(The consultant(?) who approved me for IVF said that they'd worked very hard to get the queue down to basically nothing.)

Can I ask a silly question girls ... is it your gp that refers you? Or do you get referred to infertility first then they approve ivf?

Hi Mel, I was referred to my local hospital from my gp for infertility tests so they did blood work and hsg test. When they came back fine and normal my hospital referred me to a local specialised ivf hospital as the one locally doesn't do ivf there. Hope this helps

I was referred by my GP after the consultant said my only option is ivf, my doctor was really quick referring me. Think it took about a week. The ivf for me is at a different hospital to where I was having all my infertility tests

No they said once I send it back they will then make me an appointment for a blood test and ultrasound, husband has to give a sample xx

Has your OH provided samples before? Just wondering if they gonna make my OH provide another, he has done two already? x

He did a sample last year when we first went to the doctors, he has got a letter with all the results written down, still looks like they want another. It has been over 12 months since he last gave one x

Like you say its weird how everywhere differs so much. Our gp wanted OH to give two samples before they would refer us. Just hoping they dont want him to do another as it all takes time and surely they have all the info they need from the previous two?! His last one was only a couple of month's ago x

I know what you mean, it's like starting from scratch again, don't know why I have to give a blood test again aswell or why they want passport photos- my husband said do you have to pass a "good looking test" lol xx
