How are all you new mummies doing?

That's crazy Bex! There's a woman at my group who has been giving her baby rusks IN his bottles from 8 weeks!!! It's one of those things that there's no right or wrong thing after 17 weeks. That is weird of your doc to say, no wonder we are all confused so often with all the conflicting advice x

There is so much conflicting advice. The advice my sister has been given with my niece given and what I have been told has changed and there is literally 5 months between them. it also seems that the advice varies depending on where you live. We live 40 miles apart and its mad how different things are. Well Joseph has got cold and a cough and so have I. been up since 5am as hubby is on 6.30 starts and joseph got up just before 6am. I hope everyone has a lovely day x

My friends been weaning her lo from 9 weeks n been giving rusk in bottle as last one she has choc and all sorts but that's because she listens to her mum m what she did 27 years ago! Xx

Baby squigglers again today and as usual Thomas is still asleep! He's going to be so tired when we go, looking forward to cranky baby

My friend who had her baby 4 weeks ago, was given a sweep at 38 weeks and now apparently they only let you go past your due date by a week! :| it's changed even since I've had Stanley!
There's absolutely no chance they'd have me in a week after my due date to have me induced.. What's the frickin rush all about!??? It's insane!

Must be your area. My SIL was told exactly as I was told. She didn't need a sweep tho & LO was born 2 weeks early

It seems as though different areas have different rules but to be honest I was that sick at the end I would have let them induce me at 38 week. They were going to induce me at the beginning of jan when I was just over 37 weeks and then changed their minds. x

There's so much of that too nat, if I hear once more from MIL 'we didn't do that 30 years ago!' That seems crazy too Stacey, I'm sure a week over you just want bubs out but if they aren't ready... x x

In my area they would offer a sweep a week after your due date, if nothing happened in the next few days you'd get a second sweep. Then they'd induce after 2 weeks. But my cousin gave birth a month after me and the guidelines are very different and she doesn't even live that far from me

The advice you get for alot of things are often conflicted, youre best just doing what you think works for your baby than following recommendations for everything.

I'm trying to wait to wean as I didn't think Hayley was good enpugh at sitting unaided. But she's soo much better already

Personally I think everyone now is too uptight about everything. 30 years ago it was far more carefree and less in your face. It's like this constant SIDS talk like if you give your baby a fleecy blanket for a nap they're going to die. I think some mums these days just seem so stressed out instead if just enjoying their babies.

There are things I don't agree with - like the whole finger food thing I personally don't like, same with BLW and I'd much rather do weaning the old fashioned way and that's how I will be doing it. People tell me I'm wrong for that, but I don't care about that. I mean I'm not going to give him risks in his milk or anything because it's. Choking hazard IMO, or let him sleep wih a fleece blacker for bed because hell likely pull it over his face, but I think trheres some good in the old fashioned way rather than the shut my hv spews out if her mouth.

We got the ikea highchair for £12 and a blow up cushion thing from there that goes in and helps her sit up kaedin. Loving it so far!

Each to their own is how I always think jojo... Unless someone is doing something that's researched into and can cause obvious harm - then I just don't understand it x

I think finger foods are really important for a child's mental and physical development :) oscars hand to eye and pincer grip is amazing since he's been having finger foods

Oscar LOVES feeding himself - anything that's a choke hazard I put in a food net which he holds and sucks - like blueberry a and grapes etc

He has 2 meals a day fed to him with finger foods so he gets the best of both

His obsession ATM is dairy lee triangles! HV has advised full fat soft cheese to help his weight! The noises he comes out with when eating one hahahaha

I know a lot of people who do finger foods and that's great if it works for them but I chose personally not to do it. It doesn't mean I'm wrong and it doesn't mean other people are wrong it's just the way it works for is. He will do finger foods but when he's older and onto more solid food.

I think the saying mum knows best works 100%. Not your mum, or your mums mum lol! You definitely do know what's best for your wee one :)

We've just started weaning and I've started spoon feeding then in the next few weeks will be starting with a mix of BLW too. I can't wait haha!

I second this! Ryan's doing so well with eating things he feeds himself and I love it! I love watching him!

I was under the impression babies weren't supposed to have anything other than full fat dairy!? Xx

No what I mean is I've got to give him more - due to his weight - as in bulk up the sheer amount I give him! :)

Jo you should buy these food nets - they are really good :) means you can put finger foods in that wouldn't otherwise feel uncomfortable giving him - :)

Lol I'm abit of a daredevil and don't really feel uncomfortable with anything! He's really good at pacing himself, he did a lot of gagging in the beginning and seems to have learnt quite quickly that he needs to chew stuff so he doesn't even try to swallow stuff til it's mush! He's just demolished two breadsticks :)

I should add I go for lunch nearly every week with girls from work whose babies are all nearly a year, been going since Ryan was born so iv seen them all go through the weaning process which prob makes me less worried?!

Oscar is chewing lots now aswell

He can bite through a fridged cucumber stick !! He has no teeth !! Haha

That's pretty good! It's amazing how quickly they pick it up! I am looking forward to him being able to feed himself a little Christmas dinner :) he's just having a laughing cow sandwich! :)
