How are all you new mummies doing?

I just don't think the pouches taste or resemble fresh at all! The one He had yesterday tastes nothing like the combination I made at home - Of the same ingredients - very odd!

Glad they backed off for you Douglas - he is a beaut!!!

No we had to taste a pouch and then a fresh homemade version and they weren't even slightly alike. Apparently they just use the sweetest ingredient the most? We had parsnip, apple and another veg and all you could taste was the apple?

Oh and thanks :) he's such a big boy, haha. Honestly in comparison to the baby's his age here he's huge! And that's just on formula so god knows what's gonna happen when he's weaned!! Neither me nor his dad are very big built either haha! He was 59cm when born and my bump was tiny!

Kathryn, you might want to flavour your own plain yogurt rather than feed petit filous. They've got like a teaspoon of added sugar in them despite marketing them so heavily for young kids!

Na I'm all good with it, I give him other stuff to but don't see the point of excluding things because of added sugar when it's food.

Ah love a petit filous! Bit of sugar in food never killed anybody I think. We'll be having original rusks too - I love a rusk! We were talking about this the other day on my buggy walk and one of the mums is a child nutritionist with the nhs and she said the houses she goes to where babies are fed absolute crap and have coke in their bottles etc is awful and much more common than you'd imagine so the odd petit filous or sugary biscuit really isn't going to make any odds - she gives her daughter a huge range of stuff.

I have a very grumpy madam on my hands this morning but we're off to meet some of the other mums at the local farm in a bit so hoping the outdoors will cheer her up a bit!

The kids yoghurt a shocked me! I was looking at sugar content the other day and the price and came to the conclusion it's cheaper (and far healthier) just to get plain yoghurt and flavour it. The price for hem is ridiculous for the quantity too. I hate added sugar in things that are sweet enough already.

My friend gives her daughter one every day and she is just hyper as shit! Lol

The only reason we have them in the house is cause hubby eats them lol! We have the smaller pots though as he likes to eat one strawb and one rasp at a time!

I buy the trays of aldi equivilant ! I love them as a treat and will eat 2/4 at a time ( piggy I know ) haha

Kids have been eating petit filous for years - like dizzy said a bit won't harm. Same for premade food. My friends little one was fed on jars until they took the plunge & gave her finger food. The only thing she's ever turned her nose up at is eggs & she's 4 tomorrow.

I didn't plan on using pouch food but Austin's refused my cooking so I'll use premade stuff until he will take it. I'll just stick to organic stuff with little additives

I know pre made food won't harm babies lol

My point was just it tasted like shit and doesn't even resemble the flavours compared to home made - not that I knock anyone using pouches or jars - I will when out and about - just find it odd that the one I tried yesterday tasted so ... Weird haha

We use a mix and sometimes Mix the jar and my food together

Today has been a shambles!

Went to get the 11:40 bus to the pool but it came 10 minutes late and he let me pay without saying there was no room so I had to get off - the 12:00 was late too and I had to ague wih the driver that I has already paid. Anyway got to the pool and got in and the class that should be capped at 14 had 29 people in it! Couldn't get moved!! It's all because she does 4 classes a week but 2 T another venue had to be cancelled because the manager of the pool was doing her out of money so all her Tuesday and Wednesday people came to her Thursday or Friday class! They have a booking system in place now thank god. Then on the way home the bus was 20 minutes late and when I finally got to the doctors to collect Luke's prescription I have to wait half an hour which is going to put all his feeds put of whack as I should've been home before 2 to feed him so didn't bring a bottle... Now he's getting fussy! I won't get home till after three probably.

I haven't has breakfast or lunch so I'm crabby!

Get home, feed luke and have a cuppa a biscuit and something you fancy!

^^wss. Nothing worse than a stressful day when your hungry!!

Question ladies... If I make a bottle in my perfect prep can I treat the bottles like I would normally when I go out ie, put in insulated bag for a few hours (or my travel fridge if longer)?

Also, if I'm taking travel sterilising bags on holiday what do I use in them? The Milton tablet are for 5 litre tubs but your lucky if the bags are 1? Might be a stupid question!

I have Luke his bottle then had a baked potato with tuna on. Watching orange is he new black while Luke naps and I'm considering a cuppa and a cheeky cookie lol

I've just had a cheeky cuppa and chocolate cookie! Soo good.

My new machines arrived and I'm steaming parsnip ready for blending

I'd say yes to the bottle and I'm not sure about the bag. I've so far taken a washing up bowl with me

I need to do pear purée but I can't be bothered to peel lol

You can buy sterilising fluid that you might be able to dispense less of for the bags

Hi all, back from hols this morning. 13 hour night flight with only 2 hours sleep :-/ but I guess those sleepless nights prepared me as we got home at 7:30am, got straight to the unpacking and washing (currently on load 4) Then Off to tescos for those cheap nappies and more formula after the ant fiasco, then mamas and papas for new sleepsuits for Emma as she had issues squeezing in to her 3-6 month ones towards the end of the holiday. Then Next for my sale order. Took Emma and Maddie with me on my errands so Chris could nap, shower, unpack a bit. Get back 2 hours later and he was still in the same position on the couch watching some Grand Prix. Typical! Now he's having a nap, so thought I'd have a break and catch up on here.

Good to have a nice holiday, but so happy to not be stuck in hotel rooms without my perfect prep machine and washing machine!

Jen, I had the same issue with those small steriliser bags and the Milton tablets. But the tablets I had break in to 4, then I used the kettle in the room to measure the amount of water. Then Tipped a bit off the top so it wasn't over filled. I also took the big sterilising bags that you can use over and over for 24 hours.
