***Fruit of the day***

It counts as one portion of your five a day and even if you drink 20 smoothies in one day, it still counts as only 1 portion.

Thank you for your email about smoothies. Our 5 A DAY guidance is that
smoothies, as well as fruit or vegetable juice, only count as 1 portion
regardless of:
- how much over 150mls is consumed; or
- how many fruits are blended or juiced; or
- whether the juice or smoothie is prepared at home.

This is because the process results in an end product with very little
fibre, compared with the raw ingredient. Part of the reason why fruit and
vegetables form such an important part of a persons diet, is their fibre
content.

We issue 5 A DAY guidance to promote the message that people should be
aiming to eat at least five portions (400g total) of a variety of fruit and
vegetables each day. Variety is one of the key elements as a means to
ensure that a full range of vitamins, minerals and other beneficial
constituents are obtained. For this reason we encourage people to eat 5
different types in a range of forms but to not rely too heavily on blended
or juiced products.

yesterday i had:

a banana
an apple
2 kiwis
some grapes
a few raisins
(and some 100% pressed pomegranate juice but not sure if that counts?)

Ill put todays in a bit later when Ive had a chance to eat some more - Ive got an apple and a banana with me again for my lunch! :D

Edit to add some grapes to the apple and banana
 
omg cant believe iv not posted here since wednesday! cant even remember what iv eaten now :doh:

anyway today iv had an apple so far
 
Has anyone had Dragon Fruit? if so what did you think?
my oh had some and he said it was similar to Kiwi but white, i didnt fancy it myself as it looked a bit...odd! oh and it has tiny little seeds in it like a Kiwi so i cant eat it (puts my teeth on edge, the gritty feel)
 
im not sure i cant remember, there was one exotic fruit i tried and it was effing minging! lol it was either dragon fruit or star fruit. tasted like cucumber gone wrong! lol

anyway yesterday i only had an apple, but today i had an apple, 4 pears and a banana
 
yesterday I had some strawberries,
Day before that I had banana apple n grapes (again) lol

Today so far just a banana
 
today:

a mcdonalds fruit bag (some apple slices and 3 grapes lol)
a pear
3 cherries
 
today i had a boots apple slices bag. cant remember what i had yesterday :wall: baby brain lol
 
a big bowl of pear and apple pieces. the apples were yummy!
 
not been eating fruit the last few days! :shock: my bad! :oops:

unless pineapple juice counts? iv been satisfying my fructose needs with that recently lol
 
my boring usual for the last week or so

banana

but I have had strawberries for the last 2 days as well, as they are on special at tesco :cheer:
