First Time Mums?

I think I will tell my manager before I go off for Christmas. My last day is Friday 22nd December, I don't think that I'll have had my scan by then. But I'm not back until January and I'll want to announce it before then and have people from work on my Facebook so I don't want it to come as a shock to my manager when people talk about it x

Thats exactly what I am thinking. Hoping to announce it on Christmas Day but depends if I have my scan before. But like you say I have friends from work on Facebook and I should probably tell my manager before I come bacl after Christmas and everyone says congratulations and my manager is like what for!! lol x

Yeah exactly!! I know what people I work with are like too, it will be round the place like wildfire before I come back so my manager will hear it and it's disrespectful not to give her the heads up lol. I might tell her a minute before I finish on the 22nd haha and just run out the door!! x

I am full of admiration for all of you at work, you strong superwomen! I work from home so I count my relative blessings with that.

My rant for the day is that indigestion is killing me. The last few evenings I have eaten very little but barely been able to move afterwards. I have felt like my stomach had an inflated balloon inside it, making my nausea worse and every position uncomfortable. I have tried all the tips online and my diet is right down to really boring bland food. I now find myself panicking as I get closer to the evening as I know that feeling will come again. :( Feeling a bit hopeless at the moment.

Oh JenKat, I haven't had that problem so I can't offer any advice I'm afraid. Hope you feel better soon!

I envy you working from home, although I think I'd just ditch work and stay in bed haha! x

Is gaviscon ok in pregnancy? Or what about some of those indigestion chews...im sure most of them would be fine, but check with the chemist.

I heard that all the gas is caused by our guts slowing down due to the hormones...it gives the body more time to create gases, cause constipation, and the slowed emptying of the stomach can make the nausea really bad.

Hope you find a cure...its awful isn't it!

Hey and congratulations Janey :)

I am too a first time mummy and due in July, I think I am around 5 weeks but the doc wasnt 100% as i havent had a period since coming off the pill.

I agree with you and I still cant get it in my head that I'm pregnant even thou I have done 2 tests lol!!

It's still quite surreal. Except I've got quite a lot of cramps now and REALLY sore boobs...

Great thread JaneyJan!

Did your cramps subside? Im only 3+5days and the last two days I have had bad cramps on one side only. Trying not to stress about it but its really strong :oooo:

Also another worker from home Hermit over here  This news is proving rather distracting to my work schedule !!

Hey Purdie congrats on your BFP. I had cramping so so so bad from 3+5 until recently. I was in agonising pain, went to my GP at around 4 weeks and they told me it's a threatened miscarriage and to wait for the bleeding (was a man need I say more)! Had me on panic mode and no bleeding ever came. I kept getting the cramps and they were the worst. I had a little bit of bleeding at 6 weeks and rang the midwife centre, got an early scan - everything was fine, saw the heartbeat and baby was fine.

So with the cramping, honestly don't worry. I know it's easier said than done. I was in so much pain with the cramping but everything has been fine. It has subsided now and only rarely get cramps.

Hope you're okay xx

Hey Purdiecat, no I still get the cramps, especially at night. They haven't been as severe overall but still enough to make me have a brief cold sweat at times. If it continues to be on the same side all the time, maybe contact someone like midwife/doctor. One day I thought the cramping was persisting o n just one side which made me worry. But it soon evened out. Also given how early you are, I feel like it's probably unlikely you're already feeling symptoms of a possible ectopic ? I didnt even get a BFP until I was almost 5 weeks. But this is just my opinion! Hope the cramps settle down for you and even out or even better, just disappear!

i'll keep it in mind and if its still painful i'll mention it to the doctor when I see him on monday. I guess its just a waiting game :eh:

Anyone else feeling a host of symptoms but still feeling like this is all unreal/surreal? I just can't imagine having a bump in two months time. Or a baby this time next year.

Yes me!! I really don't believe still that I am pregnant lol!

Even thou my boobs are sore (not as sore as they were thou) and I have some nausea the last few days I feel normal!!

First midwife appointment on Monday, maybe it will seem abit more real then. xx

I feel normal too, other than the tiredness. I do get on and off nausea but everything seems to be settling now! Bring on the bump!! x

Hi JaneyJan it's great to be able to join you hehe hello and congrats to all the other ladies here I have already seen in the ttc threads hehe

This is a great thread thanks for it JaneyJan. I love how reading through it I totally relate. I've been so ill lately... Between a terrible cold and upset stomach headaches and nausea. Really hoping it's going to settle a bit soon cuz it's been 2 weeks and I've had to take 1 sick day off work cuz I could function hehe xx

Hey Laura, you did find it.... Don't worry...I also had to take two days off work last week as was not feeling clever at all. Had a cold, and terrible stomach bug (which as the days have gone by I'm thinking is just the baby? But it's awful! I'm not constipated at all like everyone else).... And whilst I'm not outright nauseous, very queasy with lack of appetite and extremely tired. Get lots of rest! Xxx

Hahahaha there's a wee bug inside me too. It's the size of a lentil apparently. So excited to follow my lentil growing to become a baby! Aww I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling rough. I've been the same. Total opposite of constipated and been exhausted.. Also one min I'm so hot and then 2 mins later I'm freeeezing haha x
