Hi February Mums-to-be!
I've just joined this forum to find others in the same boat and countdown to February!
I'm a first time Mum and due 1st February.
My wife and I conceived via IVF so overjoyed to be here!
If I'm honest I'm also here for some support. Unfortunately it's not been the easiest of pregnancy's so far- I've suffered with HG and have been hospitalised 5 times since 6weeks. I'm currently on 4 types of medication and still managed to be sick todayI've been signed off work for about 3 months now and am so fed up as every time I think I'm starting to get better and could head back I get so ill again- I can't even keep sips of water down once I start it's ridiculous and the smallest things seem to set it off.
I had my routine 16 week appointment with the midwife on Friday and she said I had sugar in my urine so need to be tested for gestational diabetes. Has anyone else experienced this? It's so ironic as I've barely been able to keep anything down so I'm amazed there was even enough sugar in my body to be able to waste some!
I've read up and don't have any of the risk factors for GD although it can happen to anybody apparently. Normally they do a fasting test but they think this will guarantee vomit so I think I'll need to do some blood readings instead- I'll find out more next week.
Anyway, sorry for the long possibly tmi introduction but I've been housebound for months and only had these things to think/ worry about. I'm hoping it will be helpful to speak to people who actually get it!
Of course, I'm keeping my spirits up by thinking that our baby is going to be so so worth it in the end- I just can't wait to reach the end already!
Has anyone checked out the August 2017 thread? It's been lovely reading the updates as babies arrive! That'll be us in the not too distant future![]()
Back to work today after being on annual leave for the last two weeks... I'm 16w2d today, so have quite the bump going on!
Just trying, my headaches are still persistent and completely exhausted! Been having palpitations and shortness of breath too but I'm guessing it's normal... I'm looking forward to the day when my head doesn't pulse with pain argh! On the plus side my bump has really come on in the last couple of days. 14 and a half weeks now and getting a definite bump yay! Xx
Smidges mum congratulations and welcome!! I've heard of a few people getting the gestational diabetes but I don't know too much about it.. really hope all is well for you xx my sister is currently 26 weeks with twins and I know they have concerns over whether she might have it too...good luck with your tests next week!!
Hope everyone is doing ok lots of love to you all! Xx
Employers must give pregnant employees time off for antenatal care and pay their normal rate for this time off. The father or pregnant womans partner has the right to unpaid time off work to go to 2 antenatal appointments.
I got this off the .gov site... I've not heard of having to wrk back time missed before and I'm pretty sure it goes against the above. I would deffo raise it with them or your HR department.
Just trying the headaches are a nightmare! Was it you that had a scan this weekend? If so how did everything go? (If not sorry I shall blame baby brain lol)
15 weeks along and feeling little movements! Can't wait for the full strength kicks!
