OH and me were chatting last night and he mentioned a choosing section for future :baby:
We've never discussed this before but I have thought about it since AJ's birth. With AJ we had a very traumatic labour and birth and just the thought of going through something anywhere near that again brings everything flooding back.

If and when we do get pregnant, I'm going to push to see someone about this. I know its not a easy option but I feel it is the better option for us. Just wondering if or could I see someone before to chat about it.

i think if you approach your dr with it he will know more plus if you had a difficult delivery last time i cant see why not but im not too sure if elective c sections are given more to people who already had 1 not too sure though hope you get some better answers soon x

Thank you.

I think thats the problem, I'm unsure as to what the Dr will say and if its possible.

Well they do say no two births are the same so I could sneeze the next one out!

yep you could do mine have all got easier because im ahem already stretched  but if you are that scared of birth then they will have to take you seriously i dont think anybody would opt for a csection unless they thought that that would be the best outcome for them if that dr doesnt listen then see if you can speak to someone about your last birth and see where it went wrong and what could be done next time to ensure you have a better experience if you was to have to do it the natural way

i think they encourage natrual birth, and will more then likely just send you for counciling as a c-section costs the nhs about 3k and normal child birth around the £300 mark, so unless there is a medical reason for it very unlikely they will do it

Yeah i think loulou is right, i think u can only have an elective c-section if you have had one before, i know thats the case here. Ive got the choice this time as i had one last time, but even then they push for u try again naturally! i suppose you can only try, after all, all NHS trusts do things differently so u might get lucky! x

Just thought I'd add this in here for future reference, someone may need it :)

4.8 Maternal request
Maternal request is not on its own an indication for CS and specific reasons for the
request should be explored, discussed and recorded.

When a woman requests a CS in the absence of an identifiable reason, the overall
benefits and risks of CS compared with vaginal birth should be discussed and recorded.

When a woman requests a CS because she has a fear of childbirth, she should be
offered counselling (such as cognitive behavioural therapy) to help her to address her
fears in a supportive manner, because this results in reduced fear of pain in labour
and shorter labour.

An individual clinician has the right to decline a request for CS in the absence of an
identifiable reason. However the woman’s decision should be respected and she
should be offered referral for a second opinion.
