Do you support ideals if BNP?

I don't feel it is fair to ask people to come on to "defend" their political views (I know that's not what you ask Laetitia but I feel that is how it is being read). People do have a right to keep their views to themselves. However if they don't wish to do that perhaps they shouldn't be in this thread as it is about debating the BNP ideals.

I didn't know she didn't wish to do it. I also think it's quite normal for people to ask 'why do you vote labour, or conservative etc.' I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. The people who voted 'no' to this poll were quite happy to say why, but it looks like anyone who voted 'yes' refuses to elaborate because of what others have said. I'm all for freedom of speech on this forum :)

or perhaps they are ashamed.

I am not ashamed!

Hey girl I'm glad you're not ashamed and by saying that you're probably saying that you're able to defend your opinion too. So as I was asking in one of my previous posts, how do you feel about people like me? Do you think I should go back to Congo? Honestly. (I promise I won't bite your head off  )

I will bold the parts of the statement i agree with:

IMMIGRATION - time to say ENOUGH!

On current demographic trends, we, the native British people, will be an ethnic minority in our own country within sixty years.

To ensure that this does not happen, and that the British people retain their homeland and identity, we call for an immediate halt to all further immigration, the immediate deportation of criminal and illegal immigrants, and the introduction of a system of voluntary resettlement whereby those immigrants who are legally here will be afforded the opportunity to return to their lands of ethnic origin assisted by a generous financial incentives both for individuals and for the countries in question.

We will abolish the ‘positive discrimination’ schemes that have made white Britons second-class citizens. We will also clamp down on the flood of ‘asylum seekers’, all of whom are either bogus or can find refuge much nearer their home countries.

I think they are common sense views! I am not saying people should be sent back, but i think there are ALOT of illegal immigrants allowed to stay here who are a waste of space...ie. criminals...why would we want other countries criminals...we have enough of our own!!! I am not saying people should be sent back to their countries.

OK so now I see where you stand.

and I agree with you and have been pretty vocal in this debate. If poochie wants to share her views she is of course welcome but can't really complain about people disagreeing with her and saying "what's the point" as this is a debate thread ;). I am more on about the other 7 who do not want to share their views.

WOAH! Now that was a lot of heavy reading for a friday morning!

I voted no. I do not support the BNP's ideals.

I haven't had a chance to vote in a general election but I will.
I do try and listen and find out as much information as possible so that i can make an informed choice.

I respect the fact that you did elaborate in the end  . And all i can reply is that I think the current government are doing what they can to ensure that illegal criminal immigrants are forbidden from coming in, or sent back. One of my best friends was held in a detention centre for over 2 months, he was supposed to be sent back to Burundi (though he's not a criminal at all). His family wanted to escape the way in Rwanda/Burundi had brought him to England illegally when he was a child and now he's an adult and the home office want him to go back to Burundi. But he has settled perfectly here, has intergrated really well, this country is pretty much all he's known for most of his life. And he told me some of the people who were at the detention centre with him were criminal asylum seekers, and that a lot of them were being deported. So I believe the government are doing it, at what pace, I don't know, but it is being done, my friend has witnessed it first hand.

And like I was saying in another thread, I believe in controlled immigration (otherwise it would just be crazy). But what I hate is the racism and discrimination that takes place in the process. There is a way of treating people, at the end of the day, we are all humans.

Actually I've always been told it was rude to ask.
My nan would never tell anyone who she voted for, although we all knew she was a tory!

I was told that it was rude to ask "who are you voting for?" however when someone is willing to tell you "I'm voting labour" I don't think it's rude to ask why.

Having said that I'm sorry if i offended anyone! (Fully embracing the 'appologising culture' of the forum. I am an appologiser and I am proud. :D )

Another point id like to make is about people fleeing over here from violence.
Yes we know a lot of people do but I believe that its all to common to come here and say this just to get temp/permanent citizenship, benfits that garenteed by the EU Law.

You dont think a lot of people see Britain as a free ride?

Personally I dont see immigrants on the whole as wanting a free ride.

Seeing pictures of people crammed into spaces on lorries and dealing with the discomfort and dangerous situations that can sometimes be lethal that these people go through just to get into this country....makes me wonder what an awful situation they must come from to go to such desperate measures and how lucky I am to live in a country and be a member of a country that these people risk their lives to get to.

There are criminals in every nation. Some of our criminals go abroad - thats how Australia gained much of its population initially!!
I think its unfair to label every immigrant, illegal or not, that comes into this country because of a few that break the law.

For me its a case of there but for the grace of god rather than feeling any resentment towards them..

We employ some Polish people because we also work over in Poland - they make money by being over here but we also make money through working in Poland so its swings and roundabouts. Plus many of the Polish that come over here do so to make a better life for themselves and they pay taxes etc just like us.

Why are we so much better than any other nation that only we can benefit from the privileges that living in a developed country give? People move jobs to better themselves, why is it not ok that they move countries too?

Some might. But there are also a lot of British and Europeans who go to Africa, Asia etc. for the same 'free ride'. My sister lives in Congo, and she tells me that the Belgians who go there, go there for different reasons. Some to find work in oil/gold industry. Some to get girls pregnant  and others to simply live there and enjoy what the country has to offer.

I personally believe that there are many Britons who think of Britain as a free ride which grieves the tax payers, regardless of race or ethnicity.

I'm having a similar discussion with Beanie on the other thread about BNP..

when DO we close our doors though? We cant financially help everyone? We will suffer, our kids will suffer. I have no problem with people coming to the country if they have something to offer (if i went to another country to live i would expect to contribute) but surely our system at the moment just isnt working?

I'd be really interested to know how you would control it if you were in charge..

Well, those who see it as a free ride aren't educated about how the EU works. As an EU citizen you are free to settle and to work in any of the member countries, but this doesn't get you citizenship. In order to get citizenship you'd have to be a resident for 5 years (or 3 if married to a British National), pass the 'Life in the UK' test and pay about £655 for your application. You are not entitled to any British benefits (apart from Healthcare, which is open to any permanent resident) until you've contributed. If you are coming from an EU country looking for work in Britain you can get up to 3 months JSA which is paid for by your country of origin, after that you have to return to your country of origin to continue your search there, or any help is cut off. If you find work, you're put onto an emergency tax code which is vastly higher than normal tax until you've sorted your NI number, which I hasten to add is a pain in the backside and can take up to 8 weeks to get, and don't get me even started on trying to get a bank account without a permanent job or a permanent job without a bank account.

I fail to see how this is a "free ride". Especially as Britons are free to settle and work anywhere in the EU, too.

ooo looking at my OH reminded me - if it wasn't for immigration some of us wouldn't be here! if it wasn't for my OH's polish grandad coming over here and meeting his nan, his mum might not have been born and he wouldn't have been born and alice wouldn't have been born.

Ever since man was 'created' they have moved around the world! we are and always have been intelligent enough to move where there is most food/most chances / safest / etc!!!! anyway, thats starting to get off topic now............

part of me does wonder though... if the UK had some of the problems that the more needy countries have, would other countries be as willing to let people from the UK in with the same level of help that we do?
