Hey ladies, was reading through a few other forums and read something about discharging yourself from hospital after birth assuming everythings ok with LO and mummy.

Has anyone ever discharged themselves and if so how long after birth were you home? last time i was in the hospital for 16 hours after birth hoping to get out earlier this time.

xx

its usualy only 6 hours if all is well and u have been seen by doc etc last time i was in 3 blooming days but thatw as cos i had a transfusion and maddison was showing signs of jaundice, i wouldnt personlay dishcharge myself cos usualy wen all is well and everything been checked they let u go no probs i wont go no where till me n baba have had the all clear xx

sod that, i would want at least a cup of tea , not to be given and leg n a wing out the hospital entrance follwed by the baby and bags being lobbed at me haha

an hour later i realy do find that very hard to beleive who give authority for her to leave didnt think docs were about at that time unless in amergency certainly not to discharge x

well when i had cian hes was given the all clear at 2am yet they never let me leave the hospital till 2pm even though they were running out of beds xx

im praying i give birth in the morning/early afternoon so i can go home after 6 hours, i have a real phobia of hospitals i cant sleep in one xx

i dont mind i actualy ask for a bit extra time cos usualy im still a tad sick after gas n air n pethadine it realy does not like me pethadine lmao get peace n quiet in hossy and my sis works maternity ward n looks after me hehe i must be in the minority who likes staying in for peace lmao

i went in the night before i got induced with my birthing partners as i was told i was in labour (i was 1cm dilated) they were sent home at 1am as nothing was going to happen i never slept from 1am fri morn till my son was born at 23.13pm fri night, my family were sent home at 1am after birth babys dad was allowed in at 3am-5am at my request (i was petrified) i think i slept from 5.30am till 8am but that was it xx

My friend went to hospital at 4am, had baby 2 hours later and was home by 9am. It was her 2nd and was in a midwife led birthing centre so maybe that makes a difference.

I wouldnt discharge myself. They wouldnt keep you there if the didnt think it neccessary and I wont be taking any chances with my baby

not to mention have people faffing about you as long as possible as soon as your home thats it nobody gives a two hoots

I am planning to stay in there at least 3 days or as long as it takes to nail the breast feeding and also make sure that LO has all the tests done, seen by pediatrician and Dosent have jaundice also.
