Hi girls, hope you and bumps are all well?

I've got my consultant appt this morning to see why I'm getting palpitations. I hope it goes OK. I'm feeling a little bit nervous. I hope my husband can come in with me coz he works at the hospital anyway and is on shift there now. It would be nice not to have to sit and wait on my own to go in.

Also got my 1st ante natal class tonight, so it's a busy day with this morning's appt, work, then class tonight! I hope I sleep well tonight!!

Good luck hun  Hope they can pin point why your getting the palpitations and put your mind at rest a bit.

And enjoy antenatal tonight, we just had our last on monday night, the weeks pass so quickly once all these appointments come along, it's quite scary!

Palpitations are common in pregnancy. Lots of ladies here have had them while PG, especially in third tri. They usually go away once baby is born. Just the heart having to work extra hard is all.

FWIW I have had them for years and all the way through pregnancy. I was fine. In the majority of cases of them outside of pregnancy they are nothing to worry about and no reason to alter lifestyle or take meds. I find mine increase if I get very tired or am stressed.

Good luck this morning, i have also had palpatations on a bout 4 occasions, feels really weird, but i'm sure nothing to worry about

Good luck with your appointment, I've had loads of palpitations and they are usually nothing to worry about so I'm sure you'll be fine

Enjoy your class tonight!

Let us know how you get on with appointment and class

hope you got on ok honey  goodluck with classes tonight xxx

Hope everything went ok for you, and good luck for tonight :D

Thanks girls. The appt with the consultant was OK, but they found protein in my urine. I've gotta go back again tomorrow morning to give another sample and may have to do a 24 hour sample if there is still protein in my urine.

As for the palpitations, saw a nice doc who did a very thorough check on me and said that my heart beat was fast (whivh normally happens during pregnancy anyway) but also heard some irregular beats. He's asked me to come back next weds to see his registrar as he won't be there next week, and I may have to wear a machine that records my heart beat for 24 hours.

Feel like a pun cushion today as they couldn't get blood out of my arm so had to take it out of the back of my hand. My hand is now killing me!!! I was so glad Dave came in with me with al the prodding, poking and sticking needles in me....

They are quite straightforward machines and usually you hit a button every time you have a palpitation. IIRC I had to recored 5 of them if I could in 24 hours. I got mine inside an hour  They take the data and assess from that. Most times its very straightforward.

I've had all sorts done for my palpitations. ECG, scans, seen cardio specialist.... its all routine and most times fine. Don't worry overly about it. Palpitations are very normal in pregnancy so take comfort in that. Often women get a flow murmer also as the heart is working extra hard. This goes once baby is born also.

Thanks Sherlock, I feel better for your words of reassurance!! I went back today to take a urine sample in, and this time there was no protein in it. So I don't need to do a 24 hours sample.

Feel fine on the whole, just tired as not sleeping well.
