Colic/Reflux & Comfort milk

Oh my gosh girls just seen this! Fair play to you all. My little sister (who is now 13) had colic and silent reflux and i swear i still hear her cry sometimes at 13 yrs on. Its tough going. Glad yous have got SR and tgst diagnosed hopefully its the worst of it over.

Thanks maac its not easy. Hope your little one is doing well

Our issue may be cmpa.

We tried aptamil pepti which helped his redness and rash but now on milk free to try this.

If no joy it's on to ranitadine.

Having a difficult night already. He is constipated and has been crying. Tummy pain wakes him up from his sleep :-(

Hopefully he will poo tonight lol

I hope he poops Carter screamed blue murder the past two days. And today but tonight he's been quieter but more disturbed sleep. He was constipated so gp gave us lactulose but I didn't collect it and he ended up pooping softer than previous so will just remain off that don't want to overload him he's been changing milks like nappies.

We went to a & e today and a consultant paed reckons he does have a reaction of a kind to the milk not to the worst extent and he has oesophageal reflux. He thinks he has basically everything in one so constipation at times reflux colic and a reaction. No more babies for me the next one will be allergic to air no doubt lmao.

We have the gp on Monday and he will have been on nutramigen for 6 days and we can reassess. But either trial of ranitadine and if no joy I wanna try an amnio acid milk.

Hope you manage a good sleep.

Sorry to hear Carter has been struggling. I hope the changes will settle him and keep him relaxed.

Lol allergic to air. Yeh all this does put me off having another baby. But poor things, its not easy being a baby. They have to get used to so many new situations and a new environment.

Last night my son woke up every 3 hrs which is a first :) i hope it carries on. He also did a poo early this morning. He is abit unsettled today with tummy pain. He will be 8weeks on Saturday :) i hope all this passes by 12 weeks,

Hi russell how's your little one doing? My son is just over 10 weeks now and he is still struggling with this silent reflux. Recently i found that gaviscon has been giving him tummy ache. After having milk with gavison he screams in pain. He is still not settling well during the day and night he doesnt sleep for more than 2.5hrs at a time.

I have gp appointment tomorrow. Not sure what can give him relief

Oh hey love sorry I did a huge update on my mummy diary but I'll try be brief.

After the gaviscon was found he has cows milk allergy so after a couple different hypoallergenic milks we ended up on neocate which is completely cows milk free. Still no dice with that and gaviscon so we went to a&e who advised he has oesophageal reflux and advised gp to prescribe ranitadine so we started on .2 ml x 3 which did nothing we were then increased to .4ml x 3 again did nothing. He has been having jerks and scratching his hands and face and punching himself so I completely broke down to gp and he says the .4 was all they could do.

So off to a&e again and we finally got a diagnosis of cows milk allergy with oesophageal reflux and increased 1ml x 3 which is highest dose and advised gp to prescribe omeprazole next.

Right now im giving two gaviscon sachets and the ranitadine but we will no doubt need to be on the omeprazole as the ranitadine isn't doing much. The gaviscon doesn't do much it's more a milk thickener but we are using two sachets and Carter still actually has acid coming up and out the specialist nurse says we could stop it but the acid came out his nose which freaked me out.

It got.to the point it was affecting my emotional wellbeing as well as the fact we can't do tummy time. Go back to your gp and ask to try ranitadine and if they deny then take some videos and go to a&e with him. He can't be left suffering.

I'm so angry at my gp. Tis has been going on weeks and the last time he had the cheek to say to retry infacol. They aren't listening. We have an appointment with dietitian on 21/12 which I can't wait for but that's due to the allergies too.

If the Dr won't prescribe and neither will a&e I'd ask for a referral to paeds as an out patient then. GPs tend not to want to try ranitadine but it's the next line after gaviscom then it's omeprazole but mine wouldn't prescribe them without advice from a dr at the hospital which is ridiculous.

If omeprazole doesn't work for us it'll probably be down to early weaning which we have scope for at 16w because his reflux is so bad cause of the allergy. The specialist nurse has says the reflux is likely to settle when we start the weaning it's just gonna be a bit tricky with not giving dairy.

Hope your wee boy settles soon. It's so stressful. Don't be scared to keep pushing and don't let them make you think your mad either. They did it with me until I just had enough watching him in pain. I was getting seriously depressed. I already feel we haven't bonded well due to feeding issues and he can't yet do tummy time because his stomach is always sore.

Did you try cow and gate anti reflux. I hear that's really good. We can't because it's cows milk.
