So im 39 weeks today and on Monday night i came down with the most horrendus pain ,deffo not my usual BH . Id also been having constant lower back pain 3 days previous.

Pain struk at 10pm and went on till about 2am. I couldnt move for the pain , couldnt sit or walk and standing straight was excruciating. felt like my insides were going to burst.
Contractions were every 3 mins lasting 10-20 seconds rang labour ward and because i hadnt been having them long enough didnt think i needed to be in hospital.

I took some codine and it eased around 2am and i fell asleep.

Through the night and next day mild pains continued along with regular painless tightening.
And today i have mild period like pain and lots of nipping and pressure.

could labour have started slowly?

simple answer; yes!

it can be so frustrating, but yeah it can stop and start like that. hopefully though, it means baby won't be too far away for you.

I was in early labour for 36h at home, went in and I was 5cm.

Sadly I hadn't coped with it very well so I was dehydrated and hadn't slept / eaten much so ended up needing the drip

BUT yes it def can happen over days.

Am hoping this time round it's a bit quicker

My advice is if you think anything is starting - eat, drink, rest and relax a much as you can. Also try to get some sleep.

Yes! My labour was around 60+ hours starting throughout the night on sunday night/Monday morning & I didn't have my boy till 12.30pm on the Wednesday, having been sent home twice during that time x

Mine started at 10pm on the Sunday (11/11) and I had James an hour into the Wednesday (14/11)

51 hours all in? I didn't go in until the morning of the Tuesday (13/11) and I didn't leave until I had baby.
