Book group thread for Marisa Peer's 'Trying to get Pregnant (and Succeeding)'

I was surprised I got a reply back yet alone that soon! I have left a review in amazon....I wander should I let her know as I want my free audio lol

Good luck ladies, I have a feeling there may be a surge of BFP's soon!!! x

Yes do! She might become our best friend on here and she might mention us, haha!

Haha I'l defo leave a review when it works so I can get the free audio lol! Might try chapter 3 today. I've been making sure to replace any negative thoughts I have with positive ones lol! Xxx

All this positive thinking is amazing. I have put the book on my kindle for when I am ready again. It really seems to be helping lots of you so figure its worth a try xx

Hi Ladies,

Loving all the positivity! I do think this book helped me get my bfp (although like you ladies I didn't agree with everything she says) I have read other 'positive thinking' type books - namely The Secret which is a well known book but in all honesty it didn't really do it for me. With this one it just made sense, I think she explained things well and didn't just say 'you have to change your negative thoughts' and leave it at that.... she goes on to say how to do this etc. I must admit using phrases like 'I have an abundance of grade A super eggs' made me feel a little silly lol (and made me want an omlette!) but hey I would have tried anything!

So I went on her website today and decided to write a message just saying I liked the book and think it helped me and was now pregnant just after reading it etc etc and got a response back straight away!! I guess I'll have to give the book 5 stars now lol

Hi Louise
I am delighted to hear your news and delighted that my book was able to help you.
All you need now is to go on visualising a perfect pregnancy so that your body works with you in growing your perfect baby to full term. I have an audio called perfect pregnancy that will help you to achieve this and it does all the work for you.
I would be more than happy to send you a free copy if you would be kind enough to review my book at www.amazon.co.uk , you don't have to leave your real name if you prefer not too.
Thank you so much and my warmest congratulations to you.
very best
marisa

That is lovely that you got a reply and will get a free audio but you should also ask for some commission on all the sudden purchases of her book :whistle:xx

I love the bit about how when we are expecting a bill or phone call but it hasn't arrive yet we say "expecting a bill" etc. But that we don't say "expecting a baby" until we're pregnant. And she says we should say we are expecting a baby as like a bill or call we know it will happen even though its not here yet. I loved that idea and so will be repeating the affirmation "I am expecting a baby" to myself lol.
Just thinking that makes me feel all happy lol whereas stuff like "I hope I get pregnant" makes me feel anxious lol xxxx

HI ladies, Hope you are well. I got my free download :) listened last night, I thought she would have one of thise soothing voices but its quite matter of fact actually and she talks pretty fast. Will listen again properly tonight just before I go to bed, that way it may just stay in my subconsious. I need as much positivity right now as I can get!! x

Hi Staces, hope her download helps, Weeks 4 to Weeks 14 are the most stressful but each pregnancy is new and more importantly different, so keep trying to put any scary thoughts out of your head. You are pregnant, you are well and you have a strong healthy baby in your tummy. We are all sending you lots and lots of positivity. As she said in the book write down your worries and then write a positive arguement next to them. There are lots of positive pregnancy stories in the Pregnancy Journal section. Try to avoid any scary stories, it' so hard to stay positive but it has worked really well for you so far so keep doing what you're doing xxx hugs to you and and baby bean

That's interesting about her voice stacesl3! Just remember your womb is doing the job its designed to do, its like a lovely warm beach with lapping water for your embryo which is feeling warm and snug and connected to you, its mummy for the rest of its life. X

Been reading some more, thought the following were interesting:

*Its my own mind so I can change it.
*Reason is easily overruled by imagination.
*Good images in the subconscious can replace old beliefs.
*Make an image of what I want and keep re-running it so my brain thinks its done it before and is easy.
*Want to give up caffeine etc rather having to, link the pleasure of a baby to the outcome rather than the pain of going without.
*What is your first thought after discovering you are pregnant? What is your 2nd? If its linked to fear then change it!

I've been looking in her website for the pictures of developing embryos but can't find them? Has anyone else located them?

My visualization and personalised script have been working well! The embryologist said I was the 'Star of the Day' with our fertilisation rate! Fantastic!

I bought a pram suit today, it made me feel SO positive!

Does anyone think that it's strange that Marisa says not to drink dairy milk, it's supposedly full of growth hormones. My clinic encouraged me to drink it.

Anyone else get recommended to drink it? x

If you are in the UK (or Europe) this is not the case. It is illegal in Europe to use growth hormones in the dairy industry so is perfectly safe from that point of view.

In the US they have a different style of dairy industry, they don't put cows in calf to get milk they simply inject hormones to stimulate milk production. Here in the UK all milk comes from a cow having a calf and then being milked, no artificial hormones involved.

Oh gosh poor cows being injected with hormones :( glad they don't do that here. I used to be vegan lol so tend not to drink much milk anyway. But I think I may start seeing as I saw it's meant to be good. I heard full fat milk is good for ttc? Not sure why though? Haha don't think I dare though as I'm BMI 27. Something and the cut off for treatment in my area is bmi of 28. Soon as I get my appointment through I'm gonna have to make a weightloss plan and stick to it.
Mind I saw Marissa had a losing weight book so maybe I need that! I'm such an emotional eater. Can't wait to be preg and eat really healthy with lots of veggies. But when making a baby I've definitely fitted into stereotype of girl crying over ben and jerrys haha. Would love to go vegan again but not sure as I wasn't great at replacing protein etc so doubt it would help me make a baby
Sorry I've totally just rambled on about nothing here lol!
xxx

Full fat milk is less than 4% fat, it comes out the cow at just over 4% and then some fat is skimmed off for cream and cheese etc before what is left becomes 'full fat' milk. Any other product would be branding themselves as 96% fat free!

Interestingly there is less sugar in full fat milk than semi or skimmed milk. Personally I've lost 10kg in a year just by switching from low fat products to full fat as my body wasn't getting enough fat and was constantly thinking it was starving and storing food as fat. Obviously this won't work for everyone as people are different but might be worth considering.

I work on a dairy farm so have a bit of a soft spot for cows :)

That's interesting about swapping from low fat to full fat. I always eat real butter as its more natural than margarine and much nicer! Not keen on full fat milk but when pregnant I would drink enough skimmed milk plus stick to the butter!

From what I understand the milk thing is to ensure you get enough protein when stimming but you can do this easily other ways. I truly believe low fat foods are the unhealthiest way eat, they just replace fat with sugar and starchy glutinous fillers, yuk! Give me butter any day!

Thankyou blueflower, that's so lovely nearly made me cry! x

Oh re the milk thing, I must admit that worried me when I read it as I have a glass of milk every night, but I just carried on with it and didn't seem to harm me! I did remember reading that whole milk was better but I dont really like it.

I've been having a bit more milk but it's been upsetting my stomach so I might get almond milk instead! Maybe I should switch to butter instead of marge haha! Xx

I just got a personal email reply from Marisa Peer! :)

Dear S,

Thank you for your lovely email - I am delighted to hear that you have enjoyed the book. I'm pleased that you heard about the book on the Pregnancy Forum and I would be extremely grateful if you wished to share / review the book on Amazon so that other women can benefit also.

I wish you the very best for your IVF treatment.

Very best,

Marisa Peer

I've just thought of a more positive phrase than Trying to get pregnant.
: 'Aiming to get pregnant.' It sounds more like an achievable goal and more certain to happen!
