At What Point Did You Start Your Birth Plan?

Hey Melanie :) Yep tis my first so all new to me! My hospital in Cambs that I've opted for has a new refurbished midwife led birth centre on site with loads of pools. It's the best of both worlds really as if there are any problems it's actually still in the hospital. They've said it's fine to go there being low risk. x

I had a basic birth plan but nothing set in stone. I was very clear that a safe delivery was what counted. I did want a birth pool but things moved too quickly for that but did get a completely natural birth and I had a great experience. My mw in hospital was very supportive and let me get on with is really. I started off in a big room with the pool but to be honest I felt really vulnerable in it and felt much safer in a smaller room.

I wanted to go to our local birthing centre but after chatting it through with my OH he admitted he would feel better if I was in hospital for our 1st so that's what we did. Assuming things go to plan with the next I definitely would go to the birthing centre to have them.

All our local hospitals give maternity ward visits, which was nice as you knew what to expect the room to look like, etc.

I also tried hypnobirthing but can not tell you if it worked as I fell asleep every single time I listened to the CD! I guess it made me very relaxed :) I did feel very calm during the birth though so maybe it did work xxx

thanks for this. i just wrote mine now!

Did mine at 36 weeks, may as well not have bothered, should have just chucked it in the bin lol I won't be worrying about any of it this time around, I will just go with the flow.

my mw told me theres no point before 35 weeks as if you go into labour before 36 weeks it all goes out the window anyway
