Alexander George - 8lb 14 oz
Born at 1.51am on Sunday 10th March (mothers day)
So I finally thought it time I do my birth story, havent had much spare time these days, even as I write this now I have a little man attached to my boob .... the joys of motherhood lol
So I was due to be induced on Sunday 10th March as little man was 11 days late. 4 am Saturday morning I was lying in bed and I felt a twinge didnt think much of it, few minutes later another again didnt think anything, when I got a third I suddenly thought "ahh" hubby asked what was up and I said I think my contractions have started. So we started to time them, roughly every 7 - 8 minutes and not painful, I was convinced that they were nothing and we shouldnt panic. Neither of us could get back to sleep so we decided to make a list of what we needed to do just in case it was the real deal.
All day they were coming, so had a bath around 3pm and they eased right off, so I went and laid down, they sarted up again soon after and this time they were every 5 - 6 minutes. Hubby wanted to ring hospital but I was like no its nothing probably just braxton hicks
Anyway it got to 6pm and they were fairly sore at this point, hubby went and got me a Mc Donalds and I dont know what they put in my big mac but almost immediatly after eating it the pains came in thick and fast, but even when I am standing there shouting " ow ow ow" I still didnt believe it was real (denial is a wonderful thing lol)
Eventually hubby said thats it I am calling the hospital, they asked how close they were and they were every 3 minutes at this point so they said to come in to be checked.
Got there around 8pm, I refused to leave the house until I had done my hair and make up
Got checked and she was like " ohh your 4cms already you can go straight to labour ward"

So off to labour ward I went "ow ow owwing" all the way. Got in to bed and given gas and air which I didnt think done much at first, I then got my epidural shortly afterwards and ohhhh sweet relief, I was like a different woman after!!
Spent the next couple of hours happily chatting away to my lovely midwife, she kept checking his trace as his heart rate kept dipping, so she said they wanted to break my waters and put a clip on his head, so they done that. When my waters were broke she said there was some meconium in there but not a lot so she wasnt to worried.
The clip wasnt giving them a clear enough reading so she called in the consultant and he monitered it for a bit before telling me he wanted to take a blood sample from babys head to check his oxygen levels ... here is where I start to panic.
So legs went up in stirrups and in he went, there was a lot of pressure so they gave me the gas and air to suck on ... and thats where it all went a bit hazy, after sucking on the gas for a few minutes I went as high as a kite, totally relaxed and started ermmm saying some things to the doctor whos hand was up in my delicate area ... bits I can remember are me telling my mum I think the doctor fancied me ... that i didnt mind another doctor helping as I had a nice vagina .... and that I had shaved and got my toe nails painted specially
Thankfully it was all taken in good spirit and no one took offence!!!
They couldnt get a sufficient blood sample so he said as I was only 7cm it was best for me to have a c - section so I signed on the dotted line and off I went to theatre ( ohh and ladies they did check to see if I needed to be shaved which luckily I had done that day)
The gas had worn off when I got there so I was very scared but hubby was amazing and kept me calm, the whole atmosphere was nice and relaxed and all I can remember as they were pulling my boy out of me was hearing Frankie goes to hollywood "Relax" on the radio.
So out pops my boy pee's all over the doctor, they asked hubby to have a look to see what we had (was team yellow) he annonced with tears in his voice "we have a son" to which I replied I know, I have been telling you that for months lol (always new in my heart it was a boy)
They left a larger amount of cord on him so hubby could go over and cut it which I thought was amazing. He didnt cry for what seemed like ages but when he did it was the most amazing sound I think I have and will ever hear again in my life
Got stiched up and taken to recovery, I couldnt hold him straight away as I had really bad shakes and was worried I would drop him, so had to wait for them to wear off, then I got my first cuddle with my gorgeous baby boy.
Turned out when they cut me open they found that he had pooed a lot more then first thought so I needed to be put on a course of antibiotics. I ended up spending 5 days in hospital as they decided after 2 days they wanted bubbs to also have a course of antibiotics .. but thats another long story I wont bore you all with!!!
Phewwww well done if you made it to the end, didnt realise I could ramble on so much lol
All in all I was very happy with my labour and how it all went, despite needing a c section it didnt bother me at all and would happily have another if we are ever blessed to have another child.
Anyone who has been following my story will know that it took us over 2 years to concieve and we was a week away from our IVF appt when I found out I was pregnant. I have made many wonderful friends on here and this forum has been an incredible support network for me.
Will post a picture of my gorgeous boy soon, the best mothers day gift I could of ever of asked for.
