Is anybody drinking any?

I never drank much anyway so decided not to drink at all throughout pregnancy which M/W advised was best. Its been 5 months now (got smashed at the begining of november and found out a week later i was pg) and recently i have really wanted a nice cool glass of rose (prob because im starting to feel a bit summery). I know its not harmful to LO but still ruluctant to hve a drink.

I've never been a huge drinker either. Didn't go out very often but when I did I made the most of it! Bit of a binge drinker to be honest :rotfl:, well I WAS anyway!!

I've not drank any alcohol since I found out. Could murder a Baileys.....mmm....

Nikki x

I have had the odd glass of wine here and there and i do have a shandy occasionally to, as long as you dont go over the 1/2 units 1/2 a week you should hopefully be fine.

well ihad only just turned 18 when i got pregnant but i didnt know for about 9 weeks..so i was out every weekend getting absoloutly SMASHED! since iv known ive been pregnant i havent touched a drop of anything but thats strange, ive been fantasizing about a glass of rose for a few weeks now!! :) x

i used to go out all the time drinking when i was 18-19 but when i fell pg with my first i stopped and havnt drunk since

like you i decided not to drink at all. as i didnt think it was worth risking it.

ive had like one or two sips of a beer in the 5months of pregnancy. and that was just to remember the taste

Hi

Before i got pregnant with Kiara i drank every day and got smashed all the time but the secondi found out i was pregnant i stopped.
This time i had gotten drunk for my Birthday two days before i tested so i got it all out of my system for a while, but Bernie drinks beer all the time and most days i would love a nice cold beer but i dont because i know its best everyone tells me its okay but i know if i had a sip or even a whole one ide want more :)
Each to thier own though some have a few throughout pregnancy and i just prefer not to

I haven't drank since TTC and shan't do so untill I've finished breastfeeding. I have never been a big drinker anyway (I exclude my university days from that statement!!) so it honestly makes no odds to me, I don't miss it or want it etc and had the biggest panic attack when I realised my bolognaise sauce for the pasta last week was 'red wine and onion' - I only ate half the dinner, picked out bits of spaghetti after that. Won't go near the stuff, Pudding is pricelss I shan't do anything I know might intentionally harm him.

I have a glass of Champagne on Christmas day and Boxing day cos that's when we told our families. But other than that I've not had any and to be honest I don't really miss it which amazes me cos I generally had a glass or 2 of wine every night. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the summer comes cos I have always loved a cold glass of wine in the garden on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon. aw well.

Nicola just so you know and don't panic yourself into starvation. Any alcohol in food gets completed wipped out during the cooking process so you don't need to worry.

Don't worry about alcohol in cooking too much - especially in a sauce as the alcohol evaporates!

I have not drank at all. I had 2 sips of red wine on Christmas eve and it made me feel really squiffy, I had to go and have a lay down!! I would usually drink a bottle without noticing!!

Binge drinking is the worst thing here. If you fancy a small glass of rose and know you will be satisfied with one glass - it is not going to kill you or your baby. I spoke to my midwife about alcohol when I went for my booking in appointment, and she said that one glass a week was fine.

When I first found out I was pregnant I was absolutely paranoid about everything, and I refused to toast my best friend's engagement with champagne. I thought she was being insensitive, she thought I was being over-paranoid. We've got over the spat now but I realise I was being daft - one small sip of champagne isn't going to end the world.

Since then I have had a glass of champagne on Christmas morning, a glass of champagne to toast my sister's wedding, a glass of red wine when I came in from work one day wanting to wring someone's neck - I would normally have swigged the whole bottle on an evening like this, so I asked my husband to remove the rest of it form view  , and I also had a very small sip of a vodka cocktail in the Absolut bar at the Ice Hotel in Lapland. I figured I wouldn't be going there again and I had to have a little taste! Then I was onto the cloudberry juice.

Now I have discovered alcohol-free Becks beer. It almost tastes like real beer, especially if you put it in the fridge and serve it very cold. I'm going to be drinking a lot of this through the summer, I think.

I drank quite a lot over Christmas & New Year as didn't know I was pregnant and wasn't trying....it was a very pleasant surprise. I did feel quite guilty but hopefully all the good I'm doing now will make up for it. I don't plan to have any alcohol for quite a while now!

Ice Hotel in Lapland

wow - what was it like - sorry totally off topic, valentine will be after me! But I have always wanted to go??

I'm averaging about one 120ml glass of red wine a month at the moment.
I'm next allowed one on st patricks but if I don't feel like it on the night I'll give it a miss!
And when I have had red wine, boy have I enjoyed it!
I've tried the non alcoholic wine and it was such a disappointment, becks and cobra do okay with the beer though!

Turns a blind eye :rotfl: :rotfl: !

ive had the occasional becks AF. i did think it tasted just like the real thing.

my mom was concerned of the additives ect put into it to replace the alcohol. anyone know about this??

im now concerned about the summer coming. i too enjoyed a few cold beers especially in the summer.

what doesnt help with me is my OH drinks like a fish (although he has got abit better, especially got better at hiding how much he drinks  )

I would never touch a drop during pregnancy. There have been times when I've been desperate for a drink or a cigarette but I would never ever do either while Im pregnant.

i felt really guilty when i found out i was pregnant because it was 1 week after new year. i had 1 drink when i was pregnant with my daughter as we were at a wedding, but this time i do have a drop of lager when footie is on!! which is annoying cus if there is more than 1 game on in a week i have to decide which one i would prefer to have a little drink with lol!! i did drink before i was pregnant but usually at the weekend and it was usually binge drinking but to be honest i havent really fancied a drink as much as usual since i found out anyway, maybe that will change the further i go! xxx

before i was prenant i used to have a drink or two most nights. i've had tiny amounts since pregnant but not much. when everyone's together for a "wine tasting" session, i take a tiny sip from hubbys glass every time there's a new bottle, just so i can join in with the talk of which wines are the nicest.
i've also discovered a very low alcohol cider in sainsburys - a 500ml bottle has 0.6units of alcohol, so i've allowed myself a bottle on a couple of occasions. the next one will be for my birthday in a couple of weeks time :D

i know what you all mean about the drinking in the garden, but after baby when i'm breastfeeding i will relax a little bit and let myself have 1 or 2 drinks if it's a nice evening in the garden - i'm sure it will help him sleep anyway!!! but if i want more than a couple of drinks, then i'll express milk beforehand to cover the next 24 hours or so.

Answer to Topbird's question (sorry Valentine!) - it was fantastic! My sister got married there in Feb. It was a stunning wedding, after all I organised it  .

The snow was just perfect, we got picked up by husky dog sled, slept in an ice room, went on an elk safari, lots of stuff. My sister got married on the second day we were there in the Ice Chapel, and we went for a ride on snowmobiles afterwards to a log cabin in the forest and had a picnic by firelight. I checked with my midwife about all the things I was going to do, and she said dog sledding and hiking were fine, saunas and cocktails were out, and if I was going to go snowmobiling I should drive so that I was more in control of the speed we went at and wouldn't get out of my comfort zone. OH was not too happy at being a passenger!

Best of all was the fact that they gave us huge romper suits to keep warm and you couldn't tell that I had the buttons undone on everything I was wearing underneath.

Sorry - pics, can't resist!
