Alcohol!!??

I know there is advice about alcohol drinking in pregnancy but what about cooking with it???

Something in my head is telling me when you cook with alcohol (red wine is what I want to use), the alcohol is burnt/cooked off and you just get flavour.

Is this true or am I going insane?

it evaporates the alcohol, but it has to have simmered for a little while for this to happen! it's how they make some non-alcoholic drinks! make them as they would normally then evaporate the alcohol and then re-carbonate the drink!
(my mum used to work at a farm that made cider :))
