A few questions about formula

Alanna is on aptamil comfort now..
I sterilise all her bottles, put the powder in them and then just add bottled water when she needs one. She is quite happy with room temprature (especially as im in the middle east so its warmer anyway :p) And you can buy specific Nursery Water which is safe for them. At night time she will have a whole bottle, then an ounce from another one, so theres a made up bottle left, but she will have that at the next feed in 4 hours or so , so i just keep it.

Does the lactose free do cartons? It's always very handy to have a few in incase Tegan catches you off guard  Then it's no waiting just pop it into the bottle x

Im going to have to ask that when i take her to the my doctor next week to get it put on repeat prescription, there's only 100 scoops per tim so once she's on just that it won't last long at all!

melio as of today Im attempting to cut out dairy and i'll move her over to the Lactose free formula one feed at a time xx

I used to get 11tins of milk free formula at a time, and that would only last just under a month, definitely need a repeat prescription! I have a tommee tippee flask and I boil the kettle and leave it for 30mins and then put it in the flask, it stays at the right temperature for hours, so I am still following the proper instructions but don't have a screaming baby to deal with! The lid of the flask is great for cooling the bottles too and I can take it with me so I can make up a bottle wherever I am. X

I've got the flask too after seeing my friend using it, seems a lot easier.

I get 10 tins at a time on repeat but am a bit sneaky and always request it when I've got 3 tins left! Building up a supply for when they say no more! Just incase :) I also have a tin at my parents place and in-laws just incase we get stranded somewhere around the county. Getting henrys formula quickly would be a nightmare!

I only have 1 tin from the hospital and the Dietician said the information won't be at the surgery until friday i hope i don't run out! then i've got to hope Our pharmacy stocks it and don't have to order it in! xx

We do it2 different ways. We have container of cooled boiled water all the time that we change after 24 hours, so we akways have some and then top up a bottle with boiled kettle water. At nursery we just give tem a bottle with the right liquid in and a container with the powder and go from there....

Just to add, using hot water to make up the formula sterilises the powder :)

We have to order ours in but it's normally there by the end of the day, they're normally quite good!
As for adding hot water to sterilise the powder, I did it with cooled boiled water for my 5 year old and he's very healthy, the hospital did it that way when I was admitted for a couple of weeks and the first couple of tins told me to do it that way before they changed the packaging! So it's just to cover their back just incase something did happen, but pretty sure that that's unlikly! X

we cant get any cartons of formula and we were told it was cos it was a specific thing iynwim!?
x

I doubt i'll be able too then, i just hope they'll let me have more than 1 tin at a time as once she's on just formula one tin won't last no longer than about 3 days! xx

if we're going out htough we just make sure that we dont atually mix the formula up. We take a bottle with the amount of cooled boiled water in eg 7fl oz's with a lid on and then in a separate container the relevant amount of scoops of formula..........it works quite well and thats what we HAVE to do at nursery! xxxxxxx D-ball forgot to put did the paediatrician say anything abotut teting H for the allery and in the future etc?? x

I would say though that it depends on the formula how best to mix it.

Ella is also lactose intolerant and on neocate. Some formulas separate if not mixed in certain ways. For her milk I find it mixes best if I pour the boiling water in the bottle (240ml for her) and then add the powder straight away (8 scoops) and shake. I make 4 bottles up at a time and put them straight in the fridge. I have tried pretty much every other way and the milk separates quite badly.

Squeakz-still waiting for appointment got it on 10th march, so still at a lose what to do and now even more confused as been advised to wean him by hv but had no advice for us how too! X

sorry for the typos!!
