Leandro was 17 weeks yesterday and is 4 months tomorrow. Were thinking of starting weaning him as he's showing all signs of it and to be honest I don't think He would last 6 months. Its heart breaking watching him stare at us whilst we eat and open his mouth like trying to copy us. We gave him a bit of rusk today and he loved it and bought him some baby rice and a jar of puree. But It's just there Not sure if we'd use it. Just been getting so much thrown at us about weaning. Was wondering did anyone else start at 17 weeks abd If so How? Xxxx

We started Drake at 19 or 20 weeks as he was ready.just a little bit of baby rice at 11ish and kept him on just that for a week or two. Then introduced other things like fruit and veg. We've just started him on breakfasts too and planning on introducing dinner at 6 months when he can fat everything we can. Babies don't read the rule books and some are ready before 6 months and some after. you know what's best.

Thanx hun. Yeah I read somewhere to start them in the morning. What about his milk intake? Did that change? We gave Leandro a bit of baby rice last night but i think he thought it was a game and kept blowing raspberries. It was so cute but very messy. don't really think he ate much Lol xxx

I generally let him have as much boob as he wants before giving him his solids, so its like extra food. He was dropping his morning feed anyway (prob still full up from waking up multipul times in the night!) I think at 6 months I'll swap it around and give him solids before milk or give a little bit of time between milk and food. thinking
7am - boob
7.30 - breakfast.
11am - boob
12 - lunch
3pm - boob
6pm - dinner
7.30 - bed boob.
11pm dream feed
probably a 3am boob too! if i'm lucky

Yeah it can get very messy but they have to learn to use their tongue to bring food to the back or their mouth rather than thrusting their tongue forward when they are having milk. keep trying him on a little bit every day/few days and see how it goes :) its very exciting
